The Psychiatry Medical Supervisor will oversee behavioral health (BH) prescribers and clinical operations at their assigned outpatient sites. This role will ensure the highest standard of behavioral health care and compliance with all regulatory and professional guidelines for behavioral health.
Responsibilities
In conjunction with the Psychiatry Medical Director, ensures all work is completed daily without delays by providing and coordinating cross-coverage outside of defined teams, including monitors refill/lab items and jellybeans for their supervisees.
Monitors assigned supervisee Psychiatric Advance Practice Provider (APP) charts to ensure co-signature is completed under Neighborhood supervision guidelines.
Attends required meetings and trainings, including new hire orientation for BH prescribers at their assigned site, and site level meetings to provide input and support to meet organizational goals.
In conjunction with Psychiatry Medical Director and Senior Behavioral Health Medical Director, monitor patient experience scores and work with supervisees needing to improve in this area.
Works with BH leadership team to create strategic plans for BH and work towards implementing these plans particularly amongst BH prescribers.
Monitors site productivity and makes recommendations or changes to increase patient show rate, improve patient flow, and maximize provider productivity.
Acts as a resource person for BH prescribers regarding policies, procedures, various funding sources at their assigned sites.
Work with BH Ops and leadership team to coordinate prescriber trainees (fellows, residents etc.) rotations at their assigned site.
Work with the Psychiatry Medical Director to interview and hire the highest quality Psychiatrists and Psychiatric Advanced Practice Providers (APP) possible for their assigned sites.
Supervision
Recommends to BH leadership team to hire, transfer, suspend, layoff, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, and discipline supervisees.
Assesses training needs and promotes developmental activities at their assigned sites.
Alongside BH leadership team, provides guidance and coaching to develop supervisees and department to highest potential.
Alongside BH leadership team, promotes communication, assess and resolve needs, and foster teamwork at their assigned sites.
Informs staff of organizational activities and promotes NHC's mission and goals at their assigned sites.
Qualifications
Education/Experience
MD or DO degree
Valid CA medical license
Board certification in psychiatry
Valid DEA and CPR certifications
Leadership in a clinical setting preferred
Additional Qualifications(Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including superior composition, typing and proofreading skills
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Knowledgeable about and experience with managing a complicated, multi-problem panel
Ability to evaluate and improve patient experience
Ability to lead and develop medical staff
Ability to resolve conflicts, negotiate solutions, and facilitate consensus
Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Excellent planning and organizational ability
Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
Ability to work with highly confidential information in a professional and ethical manner
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift/carry 10 lbs/weight
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Salary range: $318,300-$448,400 annually, depending on experience.
