SUMMARY

Leads, guides, coordinates, supervises a team that may comprise Working Supervisor, Team Leaders, Journey level workers, Trainees, Helpers, and subcontracted labor.

Reports to General Supervisor I, General Supervisor II, Assistant Superintendent, Superintendent, or SOC Management. Interacts vertically and horizontally within own organization, other trades and company. Has contact with customers and vendors. Supervises Working Supervisor, Team Leaders, Journey level workers, Trainees and Helpers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

  • Plans and schedules team activities.

  • Evaluates team performance.

  • Identifies problem areas and initiates corrective action.

  • Adhere to schedule objectives, cost and quality.

  • Monitors performance to safety policies.

  • Coordinates production with other production supervisors, trades, quality assurance and management.

  • Complies with organization and company administrative procedures.

  • Reviews documentation and identifies deficiencies and potential problems.

  • Technical expertise and experience for specific trade.

  • Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

  • Places safety above production in performance of team activities.

  • Actively participates in implementing and monitoring continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, improve quality, reduce cycle time, and reduce costs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Able to climb on and around ships and walk to other yard areas. Requires extended periods of standing and walking (75%). Daily inspections require climbing ladders, working at heights, walking on scaffolding and observing workers using tools and equipment. Is exposed to dust, fumes, chemical vapors and smoke. Spends up to 100% of time in an outdoor environment in all climates and shifts. Endures noise levels from moderate to extremely noisy (75%).

ACCOUNTABILITY

Directly accountable for the safety, quality cost and schedule performance to the production team.

Reports to Superintendent Repair Production. Maintain internal contact with NAVSEA, MSC, ABS, USCG, Production Trades and various departments throughout the shipyard. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES * Manage office supplies and equipment, answer multiple phone lines, and oversee the daily flow of mail, correspondence, filing, reprographic needs. * Maintain and update weekly LMS Progress, maintain correction of Bad Time Charges, update and approve time cards on Smarttime, update information in Peoplesoft, update Navy Deficiency Tracking System. * Train Production personnel on Test Documentation Process, ensure Test Procedures are issued in a timely manner, record and confirm test results for daily Callouts. * Facilitate conference needs with audio-visual equipment, catering and special assignments. * Order office supplies and assist with shipping and travel when necessary. * Handle special projects as assigned. * Use discretion when handling sensitive company and personnel matters. * Other responsibilities and duties as assigned. ACCOUNTABILITY Responsible for timely and accurate Administration and Production support to the Test and Trials department. Provide effective and efficient Administrative support services. Improve Customer and Supplier perception of the Test department documentation and reporting system. SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS * High School diploma or equivalent. * Three to five years Administrative/secretarial experience. * Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and various spreadsheet programs desirable. * Ability to type 55 WPM. * Strong communication and organizational skills. * Must be flexible, resourceful, and be able to work fairly independently. * Knowledge of Company Policies and Procedures. * Must be physically able to transit shipyard and climb stairs.
