About the role

We are looking for a Primary Process Supervisor to manage Primary Process plant operators to ensure safety, quality and productivity. Recognized as a leader in the industrial minerals industry due to product quality, supply reliability and technical support; we are proud to make modern life work. From our location in Boron, California we supply refined borates which are key ingredients in fiberglass, glass, ceramics and many other products.

This role is a great opportunity to contribute to the success of the Primary Process plant one of Rio Tinto Borates main products. Working 4 days on 3 days off, 3 days on 4 days biweekly roster. Reporting to the Superintendent, you will be:

  • Responsible for direct supervision of operating employees and deployment of equipment to meet production and safety requirements in own area of responsibility

  • Coordinating and supervising the daily activities of production

  • Setting priorities for the team to ensure task completion; coordinates work activities with the other supervisors and areas

  • Solving problems based on practice and precedent. Decisions are guided by policies, procedures and business plan

  • Facilitating the Lean/management system activities within team or area

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

  • Valid state Driver's License

  • Prior leadership experience

  • Experience working in a chemical processing facility

Training will focus on established operating standards, Rio Tinto policies, and MSHA/OSHA/ISO regulations. Mobile Maintenance department is responsible for maintaining all mine mobile equipment including but not limited to P&H 4100A electric shovels, Terex MT 4400 haul trucks, Letourneau 1350 and 1850 wheel loaders, Cat D10 track dozers, Cat 834 and 844 rubber tired dozers and Cat 16H graders. What the role entails This role is a great opportunity to improve program content, and work with management to achieve training goals and to develop training programs, competency assessments, and assesses employees to the appropriate competencies. Working and reporting to the Area Superintendent, you will be: * Delivering employee training and instruction. * Developing competency assessments and assessing employees to those competencies. * Designing, developing and managing training programs (outsourced and/or in-house). * Selecting appropriate training methods or activities (e.g. simulations, mentoring, classroom, on-the-job training, and/or professional development courses). * Assisting in planning and delivery of technical, professional, and compliance training. * Conduct Training Needs Analysis and identify skills or knowledge gaps that need to be addressed, including recurring and expiring qualifications. About you To succeed in this role, you will have: * High School Diploma or equivalent required. * Experience working in a mine mobile maintenance environment. * Excellent written, verbal, and public speaking communication skills. * Ability to effectively deliver training to individuals and groups. It will also be beneficial if you have: * MSHA, Surface Unlimited Instructor Card is desirable, but will train employee for certification. * Training in Instructional Design and Needs Analysis is beneficial. Knowledge and application of Critical Resource Management program is desirable. * Experience with the ADDIE Training Cycle (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation).
