Primary Purpose:

Manage compliance department that evaluate and inspect compliance with industry, state, and federal standards and regulations. To ensure department is operating effectively without disruption to instructional programs, and employees adhere to compliance requirements. Provide electrical services for installing, repairing and/or replacing fire alarm systems and related equipment; maintain regular inspection schedules: document activities and assist in other compliance areas as needed. Ensure tools and materials are available as needed

Qualifications: Education/Certification:

  • Fire Alarm Technician license

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to work with tools and a basic understanding of building maintenance
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to install maintain and repair fire protection systems
  • Fire Sprinkler and Fire extinguisher compliance understanding
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications the administration finds appropriate and acceptable

Experience:

3 years in a facility operations environment preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Analyzes blueprints, schematics, and drawings of fire alarm and fire suppression systems for the purpose of determining the efficient installation of new or upgraded systems.
  • Diagnoses causes of problems or failures in assigned systems for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or systems repair.
  • Responds to emergency situations during and after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
  • Identifies, catalogs, and maintains an inventory of repair parts and materials necessary for the performance of assigned duties utilizing the District's computerized inventory system.
  • Maintains assigned vehicle, tools, and test equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability of equipment in the workplace.
  • Implement and maintain a scheduled preventative maintenance program on fire alarm and fire suppression systems utilizing the District's CMMS.
  • Fill out District forms and maintain electronic maintenance records as directed.
  • Maintain records of other compliance responsibilities such as: fire sprinkler inspections, fire alarm inspection, playground inspections, elevator inspections, fire extinguisher inspections, fire department inspections and yearly walkthroughs as well as assist other compliance personnel as needed and directed by supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as the superintendent may assign.
  • Collaborate with regulatory authorities to ensure compliance.
  • Stay up to date on new laws and industry standards to ensure the district remains compliant.
  • Communicate compliance requirements to employees at all levels of organization.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily work of their team, including assigning, evaluating, and delegating work.
  • Hire, promote, and discipline employees as needed.
  • Monitor employee performance and workflow.

Customer Care Skills:

  • Provide professional communication with students, parents, community members, staff and other professionals at all times.
  • Use proper phone etiquette at all times, speaking slowly and clearly. Take reliable messages, and route to appropriate staff.
  • Ensure superior customer care skills are used via eye contact, facial expressions, voice inflections, body language, and an attitude of "going the extra mile" for others.
  • Ensure all requests for information are dealt with in an appropriate timeframe.
  • Create and maintain a welcoming, service-oriented environment toward all internal and external customers.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands:

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals.

Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching

Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)

Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent districtwide travel; occasional statewide travel and out-of-state travel

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress

Salary: Pay Grade PG01, $324.23 - $385.98 daily rate commensurate with experience according to District salary schedule. Days: 226
