JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Responsible for overseeing and coordinating the work of all quality assurance employees on site, with the support of QA Manager; ensuring quality inspection goals and initiatives are met; reviewing and interpreting business needs and prioritizing QA work accordingly. Responsible for driving quality improvement across the Viega LLC Manufacturing campus. Analyzes root causes of quality issues and implements permanent corrective action, utilizing LEAN concepts and Six Sigma tools. Develops and implements error proof processes through project management, employee training, and random auditing. Direct supervisor for the QA Inspectors and Technicians at the MKS site. Responsible for the day-to-day scheduling of area assignment, and colleague time management.
JOB DESCRIPTION DETAILS
Supervision:
Oversees quality inspection program; coordinates colleague schedules to ensure required inspection goals are met
Participates in and provides input to QA Manager on all performance reviews; advises of any issues or problems
Supports QA Manager in recruiting and hiring new colleagues
Adopts and enforces company policies and procedures regarding health and safety regulations
Ensures employees follow company policies, perform coaching / disciplinary action as needed
Develops and maintains policies and procedures to improve quality program
Continually and proactively demonstrates strong leadership and managerial skills in training, motivation, reviewing, coaching, developing, and retaining a high performing team
Ensures technicians and operations colleagues are performing CAQ tasks in a timely manner.
Reviews CAQ trends with QA Manager to ensure COPQ data is captured timely and accurately
Familiar with lean concepts, including continuous improvement and 6s initiatives.
Performs other duties as needed or assigned
Quality Inspection and Equipment Maintenance
Oversees visual and dimensional inspections of all incoming and outgoing products and materials utilizing established quality methods and procedures.
Works with ISO Team to ensure gauges and test equipment are calibrated and properly maintained and stored.
Quality Control Initiatives
Conduct meetings with cross functional teams, including but not limited to Quality Assurance, DC Team Members, Purchasing, Engineering, Vendors, etc. regarding processes, inspections and analysis of raw materials and products.
Develop internal and external quality control metrics and testing methods based on design requirements and specifications, regular attendance of quality improvement meetings.
Coordinate, develop and implement quality improvement strategies with management and supervisors to improve performance and standards.
Observe team members performing standard quality tests and measurements, duplicate tests in order to compare test results and measurements to verify accuracy of measurement and to ensure processes are correctly being followed.
Develop standardized processes utilizing DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) initiatives in order to improve metrics, quality, work processes, efficiency and eliminate defects.
Assist with the development of ISO procedures and ensure processes are being followed.
Training
Record and Quality Control Maintenance
Maintain records and files of quality control inspections.
Review quality of incoming and outgoing products and materials; ensures results are collected and recorded in CAQ of sampling and testing to maintain metrics of product quality.
Work with warranty claims team to review customer complaints, provide formal responses and implements corrective and preventative actions.
Assist with maintenance of CAQ archived database of test cases and plans of all products and materials.
Assist with creation and implementation of ISO9000 compliant quality systems.
Perform and document internal audits, including 6S audits, process audits, employee audits and external carrier audits to ensure processes are procedures are being followed.
Other
Perform special projects as required or assigned.
Attend meetings as required or assigned.

Some travel will be required. Estimated travel time will be <15%.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Office, CAQ,CRM, SAP and WMS
Knowledge of FIFO methods
Knowledge of first article, in-process and final inspection
Knowledge of DMAIC process improvement initiatives
Knowledge of statistical tools and various testing methods
Advanced reading, writing and math skills
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Strong attention to detail and pursuit to constantly improve current processes and procedures
Ability to facilitate meetings
Ability to work in a team environment
Ability to work under pressure

Education, Certification/License & Work Experience
High School Education or equivalent
Bachlor's degree preferred
3 years of related experience
1 year of experience leading continuous improvement efforts
Six Sigma Green Belt Certification Preferred
LEAN experience preferred
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
