The Supervisor, PFS is responsible for the daily operation of the billing, coding, systems, cash, medical records and quality assurance team and provides direct supervision in the performance of their respective job responsibilities. The Supervisor's key focus is to ensure timely and accurate submission of clean claims based on the compliance standards for the company, payers, state, federal, and local laws. Additionally, this role will be responsible for providing performance feedbacks through regular one-on-ones and quarterly check-ins as well as coaching and corrective action for employees.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1.Determines, coordinates and supervises daily staffing assignments and staffing levels
2.Trains, coaches, and evaluates PFS team on performance expectations; applies progressive discipline when appropriate; participates in hiring and termination procedures
3.Responsible for bi-weekly time card approvals and monitoring time cards, attendance and overtime usage
4.Formulates, recommends, communicates and administers departmental policies and procedures; prepares and maintains procedural manuals for staff; monitors and reports compliance with policies and procedures
5.Oversees orientation and training of billing and coding staff; responsible for review and evaluation of staff performance
6.Maintains and improves technical knowledge of professional billing, ICD-10 codes, CPT codes, and modifiers
7.Trends and reports payer related issues regarding billing and coding for genetic testing
8.Provides prompt feedback to management regarding pattern of missing and/or incomplete documentation as well as payer issues
9.Runs daily reports to ensure PFS turnaround times and goals are met
10. Communicates all new processes and workflows to appropriate parties and provides training on all new procedures, workflows and processes to impacted staff, providers and business partners
11. Able to perform all duties and responsibilities necessary for billing and coding
12. Performs all other duties and projects as assigned
EDUCATION and Knowledge:
High School diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred
CPC (Certified Professional Coder) certification preferred
Knowledge of CPT codes, medical terminology, insurance plans, ICD 10 codes
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Skill, Abilities and Capabilities):
Excellent interpersonal, problem identification and problem solving skills
Strong team leadership/supervisory skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, specifically Excel
Ability to work in a team environment

Must be willing to work overtime as needed
Must have ability to adapt to a fast paced, dynamic environment
3-5+ years of experience in medical billing; preferably in a clinical laboratory, especially genetic billing
3-5+ years of ICD-10 and CPT coding experience
1-2+ years in a leadership role
Telcor or Xifin experience is a plus
