Department:

Patient Registration

Provides leadership, guidance and direction to staff, clients and patients. Primarily responsible for supervising daily operations to ensure positive customer relations, efficiency and compliance with established policies, procedures and regulations.

Assists with training and developing staff. Serves as a role model to staff and departments regarding admitting, registration, scheduling policies and procedures. Makes recommendations for development and revision of departmental policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and compliance.

Makes recommendations for equipment and systems. Assists with monitoring and controlling financial budget as well as department schedules. Assists with monitoring performance and accuracy for quality control and performance improvement.

Assists with maintaining appropriate staffing plan. Fosters team spirit and demonstrates effective problem solving and conflict management skills. Participates in disciplinary process.

Provides supervision, training and support to staff regarding daily activities, difficult tasks and clients.

Ensures efficiency, compliance and timely completion of tasks and overall departmental operations.

Verifies status of tasks and responsibilities, including, but not limited to, registration and pre-registration of patients, authorization, reviews, etc.

Performs audits on all registration for accuracy and quality with regards to established guidelines.

Supervises cash/payments processing and reports.

Ensures use of down time system when applicable.

Ensures balancing of census and patients' status.

Reviews accounts to include MSP forms for accuracy. Follows procedures and policies accurately.

Participates in staff selection.

Performs staff evaluations and monthly quality checks.

Participates in staff disciplinary process.

Rotates being on call during hours a supervisor is not on duty.

Assists with monitoring and controlling financial budget.

Makes recommendations for policies, procedures, equipment and systems.

Assists with maintaining appropriate staff planning and schedules.

Demonstrates effective problem solving, conflict management and team building skills, to include monthly team meetings and daily huddles.

Maintains a neat and orderly department.

Coordinates activities with other departments.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education: High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree preferred.

Licensure: None.

Experience: One-year supervisory experience preferably in an acute care hospital Registration Department required.

Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Substantial knowledge of current interpreting, admitting, scheduling, insurance billing, policies, procedures and systems.

Knowledge of current laws, regulations and hospital guidelines pertaining to professional admission, registration, scheduling and interpreting for clients. Knowledge of client and employee rights, union contracts, hospital responsibilities, supervisory theories/principles/practices/ techniques and methods. Knowledge of third-party payor reimbursement guidelines and regulations. Meditech Admitting Module.

The hourly rate for this position is $38.51 - $48.13. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the target for new hire salaries for this position.
