UPMC Central PA is seeking a qualified Advanced Practice Provider to join the Cardiothoracic Surgery team at our main campus in Harrisburg, PA. Our inpatient cardiac surgery team consists of 3 cardiac surgeons, 4 PAs and 2 NPs. Position Details: Surgical 1st assisting in cardiac surgery is the primary responsibility Duties include endoscopic vein harvesting and endoscopic radial artery harvesting, insert/remove chest tubes, central venous access placement, arterial line placement, IABP removal, 1st#assist with operative cases including CABG, AVR/MVR, Aortic aneurysm repair, Aortic dissection, ECMO cannulation. Robotic assisted CABG and minimally invasive valve surgeries. No thoracic and limited vascular surgery responsibilities with occasional vein harvesting. No office responsibility Call rotation Weekday/Weekend evening on-call for OR and outpatient phone calls Assist with weekend patient rounds when on-call, 1 in 5 rotation Dedicated ARNPs for perioperative patient care on step-down unit Monday-Friday Outstanding working relationship between physicians and APPs Support from a full range of specialists Increased autonomy System-wide EPIC EMR Professional Skills: Graduate of accredited PA program Ability to work autonomously Ideal candidate would have cardiac surgical experience, however, other candidates with surgical experience will be considered. Will also consider new graduates with cardiac surgery elective and supporting recommendations.
