Job Summary

Purdue University Women's Softball is seeking a Supervisor of Softball Operations. This position will work with the head coach specifically in the areas of team travel, compliance, scheduling practices, student-managers, ticket lists, and organization of team calendar. This position will also be responsible for seeing projects from beginning to completion.


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supervision, Sports Administration, Higher Education administration, HKS, Liberal Arts or related field

  • 2 years of experience in sports administration or business/financial management or related coaching experience

  • Ability to effectively communicate with student-athletes, coaches, administrators, staff, and parents

  • Ability to plan and organize work to meet established deadlines

  • Ability to read, interpret, instruct, and effectively communicate complex rules, regulations, and guidelines

  • Ability to analyze, interpret, communicate, and adhere to University, Big Ten Conference, and NCAA policies, procedures, rules, and regulations

  • Ability to influence and build work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels

  • Ability to foster a participative supervisory style that utilizes The Basic Principles and teamwork to successfully guide the work of others

  • Must possess a learning orientation to changing technology impacting business/sport processes

  • Excellent problem-solving and oral/written communication skills

  • Personal computer and related software skills, e.g., word processing, spreadsheet, database, Internet, etc

  • Travel


  • Prior collegiate student-manager or student-athlete

The hiring manager will determine the job level based on the skills, experience, and qualifications of the selected candidate. The success candidate for this position will perform installation, preventative maintenance trouble shooting and repair of all associated refrigeration and heating/cooling equipment such as, but not limited to; gas and oil fired boilers, furnaces, stoves, ovens, incinerators, air conditioners, water coolers, refrigerators, freezers, cryostats and other temperature-controlled units, ice-makers, and all other types of refrigeration units, etc. Perform regular preventative maintenance, refrigerant record keeping in accordance with EPA standards and Indiana Code. Required: * Associate's degree or Trade School Certification in Heating & Cooling, HVAC, Refrigeration or related field * One year of Heating and Cooling experience * In lieu of a degree, consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required work experience; high school diploma/GED with 3 years working experience in Heating & Cooling * Industrial, commercial and/or residential heating and cooling and refrigeration experience * EPA 608 universal certification * Must read blueprints, schematics, manufacturer instructions and guidelines * Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manufacturer instructions and guidelines * Knowledge of hand tools necessary to accomplish assigned tasks * Willingness to continue education as directed * Basic computer and mathematical skills * Good oral and written communication skills * May require working in adverse weather conditions, confined spaces and heights * Must adhere to Purdue University safety policies, procedures and training * Ability to lift and carry 50 to 80 lbs. frequently and up to 100 lbs. occasionally * A valid US or Canadian driver's license Preferred: * Three year of Heating and Cooling experience Additional Information: * Purdue will not sponsor an employment authorization for this position * A Background Check will be required for employment in this position * The hours for this position are Monday through Friday; 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. * Occasional overtime may be required * This position requires availability for 24-hour call-back * FLSA: Non-Exempt (Eligible for Overtime) * Retirement Eligibility: Non-exempt Defined Contribution Plan * Purdue University is an EOE/AA employer.
