Reporting to the Manager of Plumbing & Fire Suppression Systems, the Supervisor will be responsible for the day-to-day operations, repair, and maintenance of building plumbing distribution and fire protection systems throughout the Manhattanville campus, as well as, all the auxiliary systems and machinery used in the distribution and dispersion of these building services and systems, including specialized equipment and systems located in the various campus buildings.

He/She is responsible for monitoring and maintaining records on all applicable equipment and is directly responsible for tracking daily work performance; ensuring work is being performed effectively and efficiently.

Works closely with the Manager on the development and implementation of systems and processes to establish and maintain records for the plumbing and fire suppression systems.

The Supervisor of Plumbing & Fire Suppression Systems monitors contracts for compliance and costs, monitors general expenditure of the units and performs quality control inspections to ensure adherence to contract specifications and industry standards. In addition, will also be responsible for maintaining inventory of refrigerant, machinery, tools, etc.

The Supervisor is responsible for the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) utilization by the plumbing and fire suppression systems personnel and ensures work is properly documented and completed in a timely manner. He/She oversees forepersons and workers to ensure the safe and reliable operation and distribution of plumbing and fire suppression systems to the Manhattanville Campus.

The position will apply professional principles and judgment to assist with the planning, leadership, operations, maintenance, and administration. The Supervisor will ensure effective operations and avoid unsafe conditions or service interruptions in any of the plant and building functions.

The Supervisor of Plumbing & Fire Suppression Systems works closely with the Manager of Plumbing & Fire Suppression System to provide a highly reliable environment, and seamless service to the clients as well as supporting other departments, events, and activities as required. The Supervisor should promote the values and mission of the University and the department.

All interactions will be performed in a professional, high quality, and customer centered manner in professional attire. Develop and maintain effective communication with clients. He/She oversees staff development, mentorship and training including compliance with certifications and licensing. The position reports to The Manager of the Plumbing and Fire Suppression Systems and will have direct

supervision and accountability of bargaining unit employees with rights to perform corrective action and praise as needed. Performs additional duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications for Grade

Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant Bachelor's degree and/or its equivalent plus a minimum 3-5 years related experience required.

Required: Two (2) years of demonstrated supervisory experience of union/non-union staff required.

Required: Two (2) years demonstrated experience in maintaining fire suppression systems and proper records associated with these systems.

Understanding of Reverse Osmosis (RO), De-Ionized (DI), and Acid Waste Systems and the maintenance and repair associated with these systems.

Computer literacy and experience working with spreadsheets required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.

Excellent oral and written communications skills. Knowledge of OSHA guidelines, engineering standards and compliance with all cities, state, and federal regulations

Employees are required to be Tuberculosis (TB) negative, submit to periodic TB testing and a chest x-ray if a positive TB test is read. Additional Position-Specific Minimum Qualifications

Your Opportunity As a Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer you will work with direct supervision and direction on tasks and smaller projects, and as a team member of a larger project under the guidance of a Senior Engineer. You will participate in the evaluation, recommendation, and specification for engineered systems or products for a project verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards / practices. Your Key Responsibilities * Supports project team in development of design documentation, plans and reports for relevant project design elements. * Participate in design activities geared toward the creation of construction documents for public and private sector projects. * Prepares and revises documentation in various project phases. * Limited construction administration duties, including RFI response and submittal reviews. * Coordinates with other building disciplines (architectural, structural, electrical, civil, etc.) to ensure compatibility with the design intent. * Some field survey and observation work required for construction activities * Assists with the development of job specific discipline specifications. * Attends project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants. * Participates in value engineering and basic cost estimating. * Implements sustainable design principles into the building design and surrounding environment. * Performs calculations of building elements and well-defined mechanical systems using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software. * Some travel to site locations. Your Capabilities and Credentials * Knowledge of plumbing and fire protection design. * Familiar with greater NYC codes and regulations. * Basic understanding of all phases of engineering document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications. * Recognizes when technical problems are developing and initiates appropriate corrective actions. * Ability to check own work for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule. * Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought. * Thorough understanding of mechanical engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others. * Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related field & Licensed Professional Engineer (preferred, not required). Minimum of 2-3 years of experience.
