Reporting to the Manager of Plumbing & Fire Suppression Systems, the Supervisor will be responsible for the day-to-day operations, repair, and maintenance of building plumbing distribution and fire protection systems throughout the Manhattanville campus, as well as, all the auxiliary systems and machinery used in the distribution and dispersion of these building services and systems, including specialized equipment and systems located in the various campus buildings.
He/She is responsible for monitoring and maintaining records on all applicable equipment and is directly responsible for tracking daily work performance; ensuring work is being performed effectively and efficiently.
Works closely with the Manager on the development and implementation of systems and processes to establish and maintain records for the plumbing and fire suppression systems.
The Supervisor of Plumbing & Fire Suppression Systems monitors contracts for compliance and costs, monitors general expenditure of the units and performs quality control inspections to ensure adherence to contract specifications and industry standards. In addition, will also be responsible for maintaining inventory of refrigerant, machinery, tools, etc.
The Supervisor is responsible for the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) utilization by the plumbing and fire suppression systems personnel and ensures work is properly documented and completed in a timely manner. He/She oversees forepersons and workers to ensure the safe and reliable operation and distribution of plumbing and fire suppression systems to the Manhattanville Campus.
The position will apply professional principles and judgment to assist with the planning, leadership, operations, maintenance, and administration. The Supervisor will ensure effective operations and avoid unsafe conditions or service interruptions in any of the plant and building functions.
The Supervisor of Plumbing & Fire Suppression Systems works closely with the Manager of Plumbing & Fire Suppression System to provide a highly reliable environment, and seamless service to the clients as well as supporting other departments, events, and activities as required. The Supervisor should promote the values and mission of the University and the department.
All interactions will be performed in a professional, high quality, and customer centered manner in professional attire. Develop and maintain effective communication with clients. He/She oversees staff development, mentorship and training including compliance with certifications and licensing. The position reports to The Manager of the Plumbing and Fire Suppression Systems and will have direct
supervision and accountability of bargaining unit employees with rights to perform corrective action and praise as needed. Performs additional duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications for Grade
Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant Bachelor's degree and/or its equivalent plus a minimum 3-5 years related experience required.
Required: Two (2) years of demonstrated supervisory experience of union/non-union staff required.
Required: Two (2) years demonstrated experience in maintaining fire suppression systems and proper records associated with these systems.
Understanding of Reverse Osmosis (RO), De-Ionized (DI), and Acid Waste Systems and the maintenance and repair associated with these systems.
Computer literacy and experience working with spreadsheets required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
Excellent oral and written communications skills. Knowledge of OSHA guidelines, engineering standards and compliance with all cities, state, and federal regulations
