The Facility is comprised of: nine mechanical chillers, a 400 ton steam absorber and a 600 ton hot water absorber, 2 IC CO-Generation Engines (12.4 Kv), 6 emergency diesel generators, 3 high pressure steam boilers (117 Psi Saturated Steam), 12.4 kv switchgear / >40 transfer switches. Efficient and reliable operations of these utilities directly impacts the health and safety of patients throughout the hospital. You will have direct onsite responsibility of management and maintenance of modern critical utility services systems for a 600+ bed academic medical center that encompasses 1.3 million square feet. You will also have ongoing consultative support for all other Hackensack Meridian Health hospital sites system wide.
A day in the life of a Central Utility Systems Supervisor at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
Supervises the Utilities Team and the Oversees the Stationary Engineers.
Supervises the operation and maintenance of the utility management /power distribution systems and related electronic controls
Ensures Proper Preventative Maintenance to avoid unscheduled power, plumbing and medical gas interruptions
Supervises the operation and maintenance of critical emergency power distribution systems
Works to ensure Emergency power systems remain operable during power interruptions
Supervises the operation and maintenance of all chilled water systems including chillers, towers and water treatments
Provides critical thinking and consultative utility system operation and preventive maintenance for the power system for other Hackensack Meridian health facilities
As needed, responds to assists with problem resolution and critical system interruption. Provides review of new construction and the interfaces with utility system design contractors.
Adheres to regulatory compliance standards of the JCAHO, NJDOH, CMS, EPA/DEP and local regulatory agencies
Ensures no major citations noted during agency inspections
Coordinates and monitors the proper completions of all preventive maintenance work and meets or exceeds performance improvement targets
Must have your high school diploma or GED Equivalent
Must have 6-8 years of experience in progressive work experience in operations and maintenance of central utility systems or similar Mission Critical Plant
Must have 6-8 years of experience working with High pressured boilers, Emergency Generators, Co-generators, and Steam production and recovery
High Pressure Black Seal License is preferred
Proficient in MS-Office (Excel & Outlook)
Ability to read and understand Mechanical Drawings
