The rate of pay for this position is $59.30.

Position Summary:

The Supervisor represents Corning Hospital and Nursing Administration in their absence

Education, License & Cert:

1.License to practice in the State of New York

2.BSN preferred

Experience:

5 years of clinical experience in acute care setting and 1 year in Critical Care with demonstrated abilities in leadership and clinical roles

Essential Functions:

1.Assumes a collaborative role in staffing and scheduling of personnel, considering appropriate utilization of personnel, scope of practice, competencies, patient needs and complexity of care.

2.Seeks to support a professional practice environment which fosters excellence in nursing practice.

3.Fosters professional nurse empowered decision‐making, accountability and autonomy in nursing practice.

4.Responds and assumes appropriate role in emergency codes/crisis intervention.

5.Addresses Employee Health incidents appropriately.

6.Demonstrates knowledge of NYSDOH Codes and reporting requirements.

7.Communicates with patient, family and healthcare providers regarding patient care, demonstrating strong communication skills.

8.Effectively promotes service‐recovery.

9.Maintains confidentiality while serving as a professional liaison with the community.



  1. Functions as a mentor for development of nursing staff.

  2. Participates in professional continuing education programs.

  3. Participates in nursing committees, performance improvement activities and initiatives.

Patient Contact:

Provides direct care to patients of all ages and interacts with family member when needed.

Working Conditions:

The ability to multi-task and manage multiple project by planning and organizing own work.

Daily stress associated with the care of chronic patient population.

Semi-routine duties with a variety of difficulty under general supervision and guidelines.

Critical thinking skills and an ability to assess, evaluate and/or teach are required.

Attention to detail over an extended period of time is required.

Occasional stress due to departmental pressure.

Good concentration, ability to interact with all age, social and economic levels.

Requires the ability to communicate effectively and be self-directed to a large degree.

Must be able to make decisions based on established policies, procedures or guidelines.

Requires problem-solving skills and the ability to concentrate on details.

Adaptable to stressful, ever-changing situations.

Daily stress related to patient care and/or management of a professional nursing division.

Bachelor's Degree Registered Nurse

Registered Nurse - NY

Physical Demands:

Occasionally required to push, move, and/or lift object weighing up to 60 pounds.

Occasionally required to push, move, and/or lift 100+ pounds.

Must be able to attend meetings throughout the system and/or periodically travel.

Hand dexterity required.

Considerable walking, standing, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting and sitting.

Concentration, writing legibly, prolonged sitting, walking, bending, and using the phone.
