The Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor is primarily responsible to lead a team through a cultural and process change, focusing on improving the way the manufacturing engineers perform their job and driving activities that align to the business objectives. They supervise and delegate the daily operation of the assigned Aerospace Manufacturing Engineering team and implement policies and procedures to guide the workflow. They provide ongoing support in the areas of productivity improvement and lead time reduction, take on a lead Operations role with new development activities and are responsible for ensuring that all customer and internal cost requirements are met or exceeded. They are responsible to coordinate and direct the assigned team projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities. They determine and assign the priorities to their responsible group and ensure the workload is balanced within their team. They direct, review, and approve assembly / testing / technical specification documentation design and changes.

They interview and recruit employees, assign, direct, and evaluate their work, and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence. They perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services.

The supervisor reviews the OPS Plan and the MPP and determines the resource needs and reconciles the configuration changes based on the Configuration Chart. They plan and assess the feasibility of projects. They perform the bi-annual manpower review for their assigned team and conduct the quarterly employee reviews. They determine the criteria for employee evaluation based on knowledge, experience, and autonomy.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervises the planning and establishing of engineering teams schedules and priorities and following up performance against estimates.

  • Assigns the Engineer Level II / III to create assembly process planning, provide support to production activities and coordinate implementation of product changes, improvement projects and preventive / corrective actions.

  • Selects the Engineer Level II / III to design and develop manufacturing processes for enhancements, product changes and related fixtures and tooling that are consistent with zero defect level and low product cost.

  • Determines the appropriate engineering support for troubleshooting and resolving technical problems in production line coordinating the necessary actions with relevant areas.

  • Analyzes manufacturing process flows continually for the enhancements of quality, cost reduction, and throughput.

  • Oversees and approves the creation and implementation procedures required to assemble and test products.

  • Provides guidance to production / Flight Line team and quality regarding TC/STC technical or tool concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.

  • Develops and implement technical training for the assigned Aerospace Manufacturing Engineers.

  • Maintains direct contacts with suppliers in determining technical specifications for delivery configuration and appropriate Engineer Level II/III assignment to qualify supplier and/or evaluate supplier capability according to quality standards and technical specifications.

  • Oversee the successful implementation of major projects and programs for the corporation and organization from a manufacturing engineering perspective.

  • Execute direct people management responsibility including staffing and performance development. Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline and analytical thinking and technical experience to execute policy/strategy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

  • Over 5 years of experience in the Aerospace industry, with proven leadership in project management, Kaizen events, etc.

  • Proficiency with FAA Part 21, Subpart G operations and certification processes and EASA requirements.

  • Proficient in continuous improvement methodologies and knowledgeable about raw materials, production processes, quality control, cost management, and efficiency techniques in aircraft assembly, integration, and testing.

  • Strong critical thinking, time management, decision-making, and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and manage teams effectively.

  • Certification in Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles.

  • Proficiency in Italian or Polish is advantageous.
