Job Responsibilities/Duties

The First Line Supervisor supports the Facility Radiological Control Manager by providing direction, leadership for ensuring radiological compliance in accordance with all applicable rules and regulations, and meeting all Radiological Control requirements. Supervises HPT's and ensures sound radiation protection practices are accomplished in support of activities for Tank Farm Production Operations activities.

Provides leadership for ensuring the requisite level of conduct of operations, safety management program implementation, and radiological compliance in the planning and execution of these activities.

Provides radiological control leadership and coordination for major project activities supporting accomplishment of critical milestones. Participates in work planning and execution to ensure safety and compliance.

Implements company programs for Radiological Control. Implements and supports the Integrated Safety Management System. Supports worker involvement in safety and process improvement programs.

Conducts management observations and assessments for safety, RadCon, and procedural compliance. Provides and manages trained and qualified Health Physics Technicians. Supports the WRPS ALARA program.

Accountable for the safety of workers, the public and the environment. Provides timely field activities guidance and feedback to help others strengthen knowledge, accomplish tasks, or solve problems. Sets high standards of performance for self and others.

Required Qualifications

BA/BS degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of 8 years radiological control/health physics related experience.

Desired Qualifications
3 years supervisory experience preferred.

NRRPT certification is desirable. Previous Supervisory experience in radiological control (DOE facility) preferred.

NV5 is an ENR Top 500 firm; we offer a full range of professional services in offices throughout the U.S. The Radiological Control Supervisor will have a passion for radiological worker safety to help our clients achieve success in the safety of their operations. This is a temporary Radiological Control Supervisor position that will provide Supervisory Leadership to radiological control functions including contamination and radiation control, conduct and document radiological surveys, establish area radiological postings, conduct are radiological monitoring for control purposes and radiological characterization and track radiological exposures for access control. Responsibilities * Provide radiological control supervisory leadership during low-level radiological remediation operations. * Review and submit appropriate documentation. * Ensure personnel have the appropriate radiological safety training. * Ensure project activities are conducted in accordance with job-specific radiological requirements. * Perform dose rate and contamination surveys and monitoring. * Maintain a strong field presence in project activities. * Excellent verbal and written skills. * Identify radiological hazards, recommend hazard mitigation strategies, prepare and review Radiological Work Permits. * Provide recommended radiological engineering controls to project personnel. * Provide leadership to less experienced RCTs. Qualifications * Radiological Control Supervisor * A High School Diploma or GED is required. * Qualified as a DOE Senior RCT or ANSI 3.1 Senior Health Physics Technician * Senior RCT requires a minimum of 3 years of experience as a Radiological Control Technician or equivalent education and experience and achieving qualifications. * Current valid driver's license and ability to operate a vehicle is required. * Must be able to work in radiological areas. * Ability to perform the essential duties of the position. * Six or more years of previous commercial nuclear facility experience as an RCT, and/or previous experience as a DOE Senior RCT. * Two or more years of previous commercial nuclear facility experience and/or DOE nuclear experience as a Radiological Control Supervisor. Desired Qualifications: * National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists (NRRPT). * Associate's Degree in Health Physics, Radiological Safety, or closely related safety field. * Experience working in commercial nuclear fuels facilities. Working Conditions: * The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside. * The worker is subject to extreme cold. Temperatures typically below 32°F for periods of more than one hour. * Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity. * The worker is subject to extreme heat. Temperatures above 100°F for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity. * The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level. * The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals. * The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions. One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases or poor ventilation. Physical Requirements: * Medium work – Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or upto 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
