Position Summary:

Supervises and directs the work activities of one or more departments of the Clinical Laboratory. Schedules work assignments, maintains equipment and supplies inventory, trains and orients new personnel, evaluates and recommends new instrumentation, and assures that procedures and policies are followed as outlined in the Personnel Handbook, CHC Manual, and Lab Policy & Procedure Manuals.

Position Requirements:

  • Licensure/Certification/Registration:

o Must be licensed by the State of California as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist.

  • Education:

o BA or BS degree as required by California Law.

  • Experience:

o A minimum of 5 years' experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist.

  • Special


o Ability to communicate well with other departments as well as laboratory personnel.

o Good organizational skills. Ability to prioritize work and handle multiple projects/tasks.

o Ability to work independently.

o An understanding of both the theoretical and technical aspects of those procedures under his/her supervision.

o PC computer skills in word processing and spreadsheets.

o Knowledge of State and Federal regulations as well as JCAHO and CAP requirements

These species attack a large variety of tree species and in some cases are capable of killing trees. The lab will track these populations and do a variety of experiments to try to control these species. Minimum Requirements Graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma, and two years of laboratory experience or two years of college including courses in the natural, physical or social sciences and one year of laboratory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated experience with maintenance of insect colonies on diet and logs. Demonstrated ability to work independently or under close supervision; ability to work well with others and as part of a team. Ability to professionally and clearly communicate with diverse individuals (to include faculty and staff) in person and via e-mail. Ability to accurately follow written and oral directions in a timely manner; ability to communicate clearly orally and in writing. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
