JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for supervising all general irrigation maintenance activities to ensure the highest possible quality standards for Universal Orlando (UO) landscape areas. Overseeing and implementing all UO safety policies and procedures among team members.
Creates and disseminates Irrigation work schedules using the Kronos time and attendance management system. Completes employee performance appraisals, tracks necessary Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) training needs, and provides resources for irrigation team members to improve their irrigation knowledge and skills.
Coordinates projects with other UO departments and tracks work orders using the Maximo system to support all Irrigation needs and activities. Monitors Irrigation budgets/costs and estimates/prepares budgets for future work orders.
Assists and develops scope of work and issues maintenance directives for all Irrigation team members by monitoring the watering and cultural requirements in all areas. Monitors the quality and effectiveness of irrigation work along with the use of irrigation tools, equipment, and material availability. Oversees equipment distribution and preventive maintenance of all equipment as well as monitoring material stock and orders.
Coordinates and creates area design layouts for new or rehabilitated park venues. Oversees emergency situations including breaks, line shutdowns, flooding, or coverage issues as necessary.
Monitor and maintain computer-based irrigation control and operation system for all Universal Orlando resorts.
Direct interaction with the City of Orlando in support of reclaimed water use and back-flow inspections.
Support the City of Orlando's Sunshine Dig Permits by overseeing all ticket requests for Universal Orlando resort areas.
Support Universal Orlando Irrigation team at Volcano Bay by monitoring booster pumps and updating irrigation As-Built drawings.
SCOPE: Orchestrate and plan daily irrigation maintenance schedules in specific areas for superb show quality results in support of Universal Orlando Horticulture.
Responsible for tracking Kronos Time and Attendance and Maximo input for each team member. Institute Universal Orlando safety policies and procedures, and follow up on essential coaching as deemed necessary. Coordinate and communicate with other departments in regards to special projects or events.
EDUCATION: A high school degree or GED is required. A Bachelor's degree (BA) / Associate's degree (AA), or equivalent from a two-year College or Technical school in Horticulture or a related field is preferred.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Irrigation Operations is required. 5-7 or more years of experience in Irrigation Operations is preferred. A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a supervisory capacity required
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Florida Irrigation Contractor License, Florida Irrigation Society Membership, Master Gardener
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; have the capacity to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
Reasoning ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Moreover having the capacity to apply mathematic functions and formulas in addition to having the propensity to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
