Supervise multiple Glass wash facilities and their respective operations staff. Schedule daily operations and staff to accommodate needs as they arise.
Act as a coverage specialist for all Glass Wash areas. Provide assistance to the research departments within the Institution by attending to their requests, creating and managing new protocols as required, pickup, delivery, cleaning and sterilizing of glass-ware and plastic-ware, liquids and special equipment used by research laboratories within the institution in general and within their assigned areas in specific. Scheduling and documenting preventative maintenance checks on the washers and autoclaves as necessary. Act as a steward and maintain the glassware and media facilities physical inventory and direct compliance to all MDACC safety rules.
Supervise multiple Glass wash areas
Responsible for the supervision of daily activities at multiple glassware facilities located at the north campus. Or any other locations as the need arise.
Supervise the glassware staff located at the assigned facilities. Attend to all HR matters in collaboration with the Asst Director, Research Administration.
Manage daily schedules and coverage needs across the assigned areas. Act as a liaison and a coverage specialist among all glassware facilities at MD Anderson north and south campuses.
Representation of the team
Represent the team and act as a liaison between the Glass wash team and facilities as well as outside vendors. Assist in meeting, price negotiating, repairing and all other aspects of the Glass wash team or as assigned. Act as a customer service specialist and work with customers on a daily basis to ensure all their needs are met and exceeded.
Wash and Sterilize glassware and supplies
Hand and machine washing and drying of laboratory glassware. Wrapping and sterilizing of laboratory glassware ensuring sterile procedures are followed, for supplies and liquid reagents needed by research departments in assigned area.
Operate autoclaves and ovens in a safe and effective manner. Cross-training on all Institutional Glassware Equipment. Assist laboratory personnel in designing autoclave programs that will achieve optimal results.
User Level Equipment Maintenance
Responsible for all daily upkeep- monitoring fluid levels, noting errors, scheduling and documenting service on washers and autoclaves. Responsible for follow up mechanisms to ensure all facilities are running optimally. Responsible for tracking daily, weekly, monthly, semiannual and annual equipment performance test.
Collaboration and Record Keeping
Collaborates with research, medical and nursing staff to ensure that materials needs are met. Collaborates with senior team members in order to maintain accurate daily production and sales logs.
Laboratory pick-up and delivery
Pick-up and delivery of glassware in assigned areas within the institution. Understands the safety implications involved in handling laboratory glassware. Communicates effectively with laboratory personnel concerning SOP for glassware processing.
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Associate's degree.
Required: Four years of experience in glassware operations, sterile processing or related field to include two years of lead or supervisory experience. With preferred degree, two years of required experience and two years of lead or supervisory experience.
Preferred: Current experience working in the Research Administration office in similar role.
