Reporting to the Manager of Distributed Systems, the Supervisor of Distributed Systems will be responsible for directing and overseeing the day-to-day operations, repair and maintenance of building Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC) and Refrigeration systems, Plumbing systems, and Electrical systems on off-hour shifts, including all auxiliary systems and machinery used in the distribution and dispersion of the various building services and systems throughout the campus.

He/She is responsible for monitoring and maintaining records on all applicable equipment and is directly responsible for tracking daily work performance; ensuring work is being performed effectively and efficiently.

Works closely with the Manager on the development and implementation of systems and processes to establish and maintain records for the operation, repair, and maintenance of Distributed Systems.

The Supervisor of Distributed Systems, monitors contracts for compliance and costs, monitors general expenditure of the units and performs quality control inspections to ensure adherence to contract specifications and industry standards. In addition, will also be responsible for maintaining inventory of refrigerant, machinery, tools, etc.

The Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) utilization by all off-hour personnel and ensuring work is properly documented and completed in a timely manner.

He/she oversees forepersons and workers to ensure the safe and reliable operation and distribution of HVAC&R Systems to the Manhattanville Campus. Provides technical expertise in the operations, maintenance, repair and controls of the Distributed Systems.

The position will apply professional principles and judgment to assist with the planning, leadership, operations, maintenance, and administration of the Distributed Systems.

The Supervisor will ensure effective operations and avoid unsafe conditions or service interruptions of the various applicable systems.

The Supervisor of Distributed Systems works closely with the Manager of Distributed Systems to provide a highly reliable environment, and seamless service to the clients as well as supporting other departments, events, and activities as required. The Supervisor should promote the values and mission of the University and the department.

All interactions will be performed in a professional, high quality, and customer centered manner in professional attire.

Develop and maintain effective communication with clients. He/she oversees staff development, mentorship and training including compliance with certifications and licensing. Performs additional duties as assigned.

The position will assist with the planning, operations, maintenance, and administration of the Distributed and Electrical Systems, ensuring effective operations and avoid unsafe conditions or service interruptions in all the off-hour functions.

The position reports to the Manager of Distributed Systems and will have direct supervision and accountability of various technical staff members including bargaining unit staff with rights to perform corrective action and praise as needed.

The Supervisor should promote the values and mission of the University and the department.

All interactions will be performed in a professional, high quality, and customer centered manner in professional attire.

Develop and maintain effective communication with clients. Minimum Qualifications for Grade

Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant Bachelor's degree and/or its equivalent plus a minimum of 3-5 years related experience required.

Required: Three (3) years of demonstrated supervisory experience of union/non-union staff required.

Position is an off-hour shift (evening shift and/or midnight shift).

Strong understanding of the various systems throughout a facility, including HVAC, Refrigeration, Plumbing, Electrical, Lighting, etc.

Computer literacy and experience working with spreadsheets required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.

Excellent oral and written communications skills. Knowledge of OSHA guidelines, engineering standards and compliance with all cities, state, and federal regulations.

Employees are required to be Tuberculosis (TB) negative, submit to periodic TB testing and a chest x-ray if a positive TB test is read. Additional Position-Specific Minimum Qualifications

Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant Special Instructions Preferred Qualifications Preferred: Experience with Building Automation and Controls systems.

Essential Functions Oversee planning and execution to ensure day-to-day compliance with work processes, key metrics, timely completion of work load and adherence to standards of quality control of the Facilities Operations team. Provide general supervision and direction to facilities staff on the shift as required. Keep staff engaged in the operation, maintenance, and repair of the distributed and electrical systems including; HVAC and plumbing distribution, and refrigerated systems, as well as, machinery used in the distribution and dispersion of the various building services and specialized equipment located throughout the campus, such as, building automation and control systems, lighting & shading systems, fire protection and monitoring systems.

Maintain and monitor a comprehensive preventive maintenance program. Provide technical expertise in the operations, maintenance, repair of distributed and electrical systems and equipment throughout the Manhattanville Campus. Ensure team is utilizing department's CMMS, documenting updates in the system in a timely manner.

Ensure work is completed on schedule, in a safe manner as per regulations, and within the contract requirements. Maintain adequate operating inventory of tools and supplies for timely and efficient use.

Promote professional and courteous client relations. Address complaints and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner. Handle emergencies in a professional manner, documenting all events and notifying the Manager of the Distributed Systems, Manhattanville.

The supervisor continually assesses performance through established standards and applies corrective measures as required. He/she assists individual supervisors as necessary with disciplinary actions.

He/she evaluates and makes recommendations on equipment, supplies and procedures. Participates in the hiring, training, evaluation, and termination of staff as required. Interprets the collective bargaining agreement and resolves issues that may arise. Involved with disciplinary actions required.

Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested, including a key role in the Emergency Action Plan. Obtain and maintain valid NYC certificates of fitness as determined by CU for the Distributed Systems and the EAP.

Respond to emergencies/shutdowns on and off shift as required. Additional Essential Functions (Limit to 3950 characters.) Special Indications
