Job Overview

Nikkiso ACD is an engineering and manufacturing company specializing in machinery designed to operate at cryogenic temperatures as low as - 420 degrees Fahrenheit, the boiling point of Liquid hydrogen. For over 50 years, Nikkiso ACD has specialized in centrifugal and reciprocating pumps as well as turbines for air separation. Nikkiso ACD has the most diversified product line in the industry covering nearly every application requiring pumps or turboexpanders.

This position is based at Nikkiso ACD located in Santa Ana, CA.

Summary/Objective

The Engineering Supervisor at ACD is responsible for providing technical leadership and making critical technical design decisions related to the product design standards, product development, and day to day activities needed to complete engineer to order projects.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure project requirements are clearly defined, understood and effectively communicated to the team members of the design.

  • Identify and address project risks and issues, implementing corrective actions as necessary to avoid design delays.

  • Collaborate with project engineers and project managers to ensure effective design completion.

  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement within the design engineering team.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, supporting their professional development.

  • Develop, monitor and maintain projects/department KPIs as required.

  • Stay updated on industry trends and best design practices to drive technical innovation.

  • Conduct performance evaluations; provide feedback to team members on their technical capabilities, project contributions, and performance of the team.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify project design goals and objectives, to ensure projection completion in a timely manner.

  • Communicate prompt responses to internal customer comments and inquiries.

  • Ensure the design team adheres to best practices in engineering design and manufacturing best practices.

  • Review/approve and support team members with time card entry, work order assignments and PTO requests.

  • Participate in employee disciplinary meetings and investigations.

  • Promote compliance with applicable standards, regulations and company policies.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • The position supervises design engineers within their team as assigned by the management team.

Work Environment

  • This job operates in a professional office environment.

  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers, and smartphones.

  • This role works onsite, no hybrid schedule is preferred.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

  • This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field is a must.

  • Experience managing teams of 10+ engineers, more than 5 years is preferred.

  • Extensive experience in engineering mechanical design.

  • CAD design experience intermediate level to expert level is a must.

  • Ability to read and understand drawings and technical specifications.

  • Experience with ASME Y14.5 standard is a must.

  • Strong technical background and expertise in the relevant engineering discipline(s), cryogenic industry is preferred.

  • Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

  • Experience working in a high paced manufacturing environment.
