Position Summary:
Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Pupil Services, provides supervision and management for all aspects of the pupil services program at Conard High School. Pupil Services Department Supervisor role includes oversight of student's individualized education plans and supervision for the following support services: Social Work, School Psychology, Speech and Language, Behavioral Therapy, Autism Consultation, BCBA, ABA, Vocational and Transitional Services, Occupational and Physical Therapy, Services for the Hearing Impaired, Psychiatric Consultation, Nursing and Health Services and Out-of-District Placements. The anticipated length of assignment for this position is 6-8 weeks.
The Pupil Services Department Supervisor is an essential member of the district-wide extended leadership team as well as the building leadership team(s).
Some Key Areas of Responsibilities relative to:
Qualifications:
- Intermediate Administrative Certificate (092) and Special Education (162)
- Minimum of two (2) years' experience as a building or special education administrator and eight (8) years of teaching, or an equivalent combination of education and experience deemed equivalent by the Director of Pupil Services.
- Demonstrated success as an effective leader. Must possess the skills and ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and supervise a range of programs and personnel.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of special education law mandates and guidelines.
- Knowledge and/or experience in specialized programming in intensive academic and behavioral programs preferred.
- Knowledge and/or experience with specialized instructional delivery, curriculum and assessment preferred.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and oral and written communications skills.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Supervise and evaluate special education teachers, support services providers, paraprofessionals and other department members as assigned.
- Partner with Out-of-District Schools and Programs to monitor the provision of special education, evaluations and development of Individualized Education Plans.
- Partner with building administrators on continued program development, including specialized programs (intensive academic and/or intensive behavior).
- Develop and implement a recruitment and selection strategy; coordinate and conduct interviews, and other related functions to satisfy staffing needs.
- Identify, organize and prepare professional learning for specialized program development.
- Ensure that all program positions are staffed by appropriately certified and highly qualified individuals.
- Promote high standards and expectations for students and staff for academic performance.
- Develops professional development for building and district-wide pupil services staff.
- Ensures compliance of the Special Education service delivery process for the development of IEPs, annual review, and third year re-evaluation of IEP's as required by State and Federal mandates.
- Ensure that IEP's address the student's achievement in each of the District's Core Curriculum Standards.
- Represent the District in mediation, administrative hearings and court proceedings relating to students in need of or receiving special education services.
- Complete in a timely fashion all records and reports as required by law and regulations.
- Ensure the district is in compliance with State and Federal regulations and that implementation is consistent with program requirements.
