Supervisor of Facility and Security Operations

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred

  • Experience in facility management and project management, with strong leadership, communication and organization skills.

  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to a continually changing environment and manage conflicting priorities.

  • Supervisory experience in a unionized employee environment.

  • Working knowledge of building codes, fire safety codes, Americans with Disabilities Act and OSHA regulations.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical manuals. such as life safety codes, fire regulations, procedure manuals, and building operating prints.

  • Experience in managing HVAC, Energy Management & Building Controls

  • Knowledge of security management principles and best practices.

  • Knowledge of the latest security technology including surveillance cameras, access control systems, visitor management systems, and communication devices and the ability to use the latest technology.

  • Advanced computer skills including office productivity software. Google Docs, Drive, Forms, Gmail, Sheets preferred.

  • A combination of education and experience that demonstrates the abilities to perform the responsibilities of this position may be considered in lieu of stated education and experience requirements.

  • Will serve as primary contact for emergency calls and respond appropriately before, during and after school hours, as well as on nights and weekends.

  • Will maintain current first aid, AED and CPR certification

  • Will maintain appropriate FEMA certifications

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in the development and implementation of department policies and procedures and standards of work for the Custodial personnel.

  • Administers the collective bargaining agreement applicable to unionized custodial employees; participates, on behalf of management, in the grievance procedure.

  • Provides leadership and supervision to the custodial personnel assigned to the department.

  • Ensures Head Custodians maintain current inventory of supplies and equipment including ordering and repairing of all equipment.

  • Ensure the district's compliance with current federal, state, and local law and code regulations in relation to facilities, infrastructure and security.

  • Investigates district emergency situations and reports unusual occurrences to Administration.

  • Submits quarterly facility and security updates to the Director of Finance and Business Operations for the Board of Education.

  • Manages the school buildings maintenance work order process to include monitoring and reporting status of repairs. Conducts regular safety and hazard assessments and maintains schedules to keep all buildings, playgrounds, athletic fields, school grounds, gymnasiums, classrooms and equipment safe for students and staff.

  • Investigates all damage and theft reports to include maintaining the district's incident log of activities.

  • Serves as the school district's primary key holder for all off-shift and weekend building alarms.

  • Manages the custodial bi-weekly and overtime attendance records.

  • Serves as the Board of Education liaison with the Town agencies on all school facility and security issues.

  • Oversees the operation and control of the district's energy management computer system that operates the HVAC and heating systems.

  • Serves as the district's (EOC) emergency operations coordinator on all facility issues under the direction of the Superintendent of Schools. Foster a partnership between the schools, law enforcement and other Town agencies regarding safety. Will assist the Superintendent of Schools in keeping the District All-Hazards Security and Safety Plan up-to-date.

  • Supervises the performance of all maintenance and service contracts.

  • Manages the administration of school building (Town's) maintenance account, and the custodial operating accounts which include the preparation of the annual budget.

  • Represents and participates in committees and task forces as assigned by the Director of Finance and Business Operations or the Superintendent of Schools.

  • Supervises the storage and handling of hazardous materials for the district.

  • Supports and carries out Board of Education policies.
