  1. Performs clinical functions of immunizing patients at community immunization clinics.

2.Acts as a resource person for patients, family members, and support staff when questions or problems arise.

3.Provides consistent, professional supervision, education, training, and direction to support personnel, including students.

4.Communicates with patients and family members as appropriate in relationship to communicable disease, infection control and prevention guidelines.

5.Acts as a resource and liaison with the health agents in the town and other community sites.

6.Communicates with immunization site coordinators to provide requested information, such as data on the number of vaccines provided at a site.

7.Communicates clearly and effectively in person, in writing, or by phone.

8.Requisitions supplies and equipment, maintenance and repair services, and prepares related forms necessary for the continued operation of the department.

9.Ensures adequate stock of vaccines.



  1. Coordinates work to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency using and/or modifying established procedures to assure timely completion of work in conformance with department policies and procedures.

  2. Stays current with immunization guidelines and serves as an expert on individual vaccine products.

  3. Remains up to date on immunization schedules and individual vaccine products.

  4. Maintains a thorough knowledge of departmental and Hospital policies and Procedures as they pertain to the job, including but not limited to the fire and disaster plans. Comply with Infection Control policies and procedures.

  5. Ensures patient confidentiality at all times.

  6. Participates in department and hospital education as well as other activities that promote professional growth and development, meeting minimum requirements for continuing education as required by law.

  7. Identifies process improvement opportunities and presents recommendations and solutions to management.

  8. Complies with all Federal, State, and Local rules and regulations in the administration of vaccines.

  9. Refers issues to the Pharmacy Manager as appropriate.

  10. Maintains a working knowledge of all required equipment and software.

  11. Performs other work related duties as assigned or requested.

  12. Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers


  • Bachelor of Science Degree Program in Pharmacy or Pharm D is required.

  • Registered Pharmacist licensed by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Pharmacy required.

  • BLS certification required.

  • Immunization Certification required.

  • Two years experience as an immunizer required.

  • Valid U.S. Driver's License upon hire required.

  • Must be able to travel between community immunization clinics and Cape Cod Healthcare Pharmacies, using own personal transportation.

  • Read, write and communicate in English.

  • Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills required.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and to work under pressure.

  • Demonstrated strong leadership, organizational, communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to triage work to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain harmonious and cooperative relations with fellow employees, medical staff, patients and guests and serves effectively as part of the department team in performing professional service to patients.
