Supervisor, Clinical Labs - Pathology/Cytology

The Department of Clinical Laboratories at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Supervisor/TH Clinical Associate Technical Director of Clinical Laboratories, Pathology/Cytology. The successful candidate will:

• Process patient samples for cytological procedures including examination, accessioning and result reporting.

• Screen patient samples and provide cytologic interpretation.

• Perform clinical laboratory testing procedures.

• Communicate with physicians, nurses and other hospital personnel.

• Assist to ensure proper collection, processing and reporting.

• Maintain documentation as required by the regulatory agencies, including equipment and records, quality assurance activities related to examination performance.

• Comply with hospital policy regarding annual health assessment and mandatory in-service.

• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required/needed.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science or other relevant laboratory science.

• New York State Laboratory Technologist Licensure.

• Must meet at lease one requirement as mandated by the New York State Office of Professions for Section 58-1.4, Qualifications of a Laboratory Supervisor.

• 4+ years of related experience;

• OR a Master's Degree and a minimum of 2-years of pertinent experience in an acceptable laboratory subsequent to qualifying.

• 2+ years of supervisory/administrative experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• ASCP certification or equivalent preferred.

Commensurate with experience and qualifications
