Job Description Summary
DEFINITIONUnder the general supervision of the area administrator or designee, the Affinity Programs Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of the Affinity Programs' space, supports classified personnel, and collaborates with faculty, staff, and administrators to foster an environment of connection and belonging on campus.
The incumbent provides leadership in the administration and organization for programming and services of African American/Black, Hispanic/Latinx, current/former Foster Youth, LGBTQ+, and Undocumented students, and other historically marginalized populations. The Supervisor maintains compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. As needed, the Supervisor may be required to fill in for service needs in the absence of staff.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICSIncumbents in this position utilize the Guided Pathways framework, advance the college's Student Equity Plan, and employ equity-minded practices to increase student engagement, sense of belonging, persistence, retention, and completion. The incumbent will embrace and model the Caring Campus behaviors, take a leadership role as well as work as part of a team, and ensure all provisions of services to students are aligned with the District's strategic goals.

QUALIFICATIONSEducation:
Required
Experience: Required• Two years of experience in program development and coordination, social service or student services experience; and• Direct experience working with and knowledge of best practices for serving minoritized students in a higher education setting.
Preferred• Two years of community college experience working with educational programs focused on student access, persistence, retention, and completion; theoretical as well as practical knowledge of best practices developing, and maintaining programmatic relevance to address nuances within minoritized communities; and• Bilingual in Spanish (oral and written)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:• Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate a variety of programs, projects, and activities related to the day-to-day functions of the Affinity Programs;• Demonstrate knowledge of the services and resources available to students, and experience developing partnerships and cultivating collaborative working relationships with internal and external constituencies;• Demonstrate sensitivity to, understanding of, and respect for the diverse socio-economic, ethnic, religious, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and cultural backgrounds, learning ability of community college students, faculty and staff;• Ability to interpret and apply program specific and District policies and procedures and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations;• Knowledge of best practices and principles of supervision;• Application and use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, OneNote) and Adobe software, and technology to follow-up with students and track their progress;• Correct usage of English, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary;
Physical ability to:• Read and comprehend printed matter and text and data on computer monitors;• Communicate intelligibly and effectively via speech, telephone, written correspondence, and/or email;• Sit or stand for extended periods of time;• Lift and/or carry 25 pounds; and• Exert manual dexterity sufficient for keyboard and other office equipment operation.
