The California Children's Services (CCS) section of the Department of Public Health (DPH) is recruiting for a Supervising Pediatric Rehabilitation Therapist Ito supervise the day-to-day work of Therapists and plan and implement therapy programs for the physical and occupational rehabilitation of children at medical therapy units. Duties include chart utilization reviews, quality assurance, and policy and procedure development; establishing and maintaining tracking systems to meet state guidelines; supervising and evaluating staff work performance and staff productivity; conducting staff conferences; advising therapists on treatment options; associating and corroborating with the school personnel, physicians and providers; engaging in the provision of team-centered care; and planning and implementing therapy programs for children with neurological and/or orthopedic impairments.

The current vacancies exists in Etiwanda and Yucca Valley. The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill the current vacancies and may be used to fill future vacancies within the DPH as they occur throughout the County.

  • Salary increases contingent upon Property Related Revenue and/or statewide Realignment Sales Tax Collections performance.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Physical: May be required to lift or assist in lifting children over fifty (50) pounds.

Pre-Employment Process: Prior to appointment, applicants must pass a background investigation which includes verification of employment history and education, fingerprinting, physical exam, and drug screening.

Sponsorship:San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require Visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future. Candidates must be able to present their legal right to work in the United States at the time of employment.

Travel/License: Travel throughout the County is required to perform treatment services during home site visits as needed. Employees will be required to make provision for transportation (mileage reimbursement is available). At the time of hire, a valid California Class C driver's license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced and maintained for the individual providing the transportation.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet both of the following licensure andexperience requirements:

Licensure: Applicants mustmeet one of the following licensure options:

  • Option 1: Possess and maintaina valid license as a Physical Therapist issued by the Physical Therapy Board of California (PTBC),-or-
  • Option 2: Possess and maintain a valid license as an Occupational Therapist issued by the California Board of Occupational Therapy (BOT).
  • AND -

Experience: Applicants mustmeet one of the following experience options:

  • Option A:One (1)yearof full-time equivalent experience as a licensed Physical Therapist or a licensed Occupational Therapist in a California Children's Services program,-or-
  • Option B:Two (2)years of full-time experience as a licensed Physical Therapist or licensed Occupational Therapist in a rehabilitation setting.

Desired Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess experience working in a CCS program and/or with pediatricpopulations (e.g., Pediatric Rehabilitation, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit), which includes inpatient/outpatient intensive care management.

Supervisory experience leading licensed Physical and/or Occupational Therapists is highly desirable (i.e., hiring, firing, counseling, disciplinary actions, assigning work, completing work performance evaluations, developing work schedules and approving time off).

Applicants fluent in American Sign Language, Arabic, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish and/orVietnamese are strongly encouraged to apply. Additional compensation is associated with positions requiring the use of bilingual skills. Testing of bilingual skills may be required to receive additional compensation.
