The Department of Water Resources' Modeling Support Office's Central Valley is seeking a qualified candidate who can solve complex challenges associated with Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta (the Delta) and beyond.

The Supervising Engineer, Water Resources, under general direction of a Principal Engineer, in the Modeling Support Office is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the work for special projects.

Department of Water Resources (DWR) was established in 1956 by the California State Legislature. We manage California's water resources, systems, and infrastructure, including the State Water Project, in a responsible sustainable way.

Special Requirements

Possession of a valid California driver's license to drive a state vehicle on public roadways to get to meetings and various locations.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

Desirable abilities include knowledge of Delta hydrodynamics, Delta water quality, water systems modeling, hydrology, and experience with computer programming (Python, Fortran, C, and scripting are particularly helpful) and data analysis. Training will be provided commensurate with experience, skill level, and assigned responsibilities.
