Job Description and Duties

DUTIES:

Under the direction of the Dean of Students and Supervisor of Residence Programs, the incumbent will supervise counselor staff who provides residential care services to students. The incumbent will plan and coordinate activities and programs which meet the identified needs of students; prepares or supervise the preparation of written schedules, activity plans, and provide guidance and expertise to staff; contact parents regarding the more difficult student behavior problems and coordinate the provision of non-school social, medical and other services to students and parents; participate in the development of individual student development plans with academic and other school professional staff ensure back-up support for counselors in activities or in controlling student behavior.

The California School for the Deaf, Fremont CSDF) is one of 6 State Special Schools under the Department of Education. Located on a 96-acre campus shared with the California School for the Blind, and the Diagnostic Center, North, we are a short walk from BART and have free parking for employees.

Special Requirements

  • The position(s) require(s) fluency in the American Sign Language language. If the State of California does not have a current record documenting your fluency in this language, you will be required to successfully pass an approved language fluency test prior to being hired.
