Job Description
Lead the continuous improvement and execution of the Companies procurement and contracting strategy, policies and guidelines in regard to purchasing, strategic sourcing and contracts ensuring robust process and transactions, and accountable for value-added, cost savings, and other performance metrics
Responsible for the application of procurement processes during the entire sourcing progression, particularly contract preparation, request, evaluation, and award processes
Implements processes, policies, systems, and practices that maximize operational effectiveness, supply continuity and lower Total Cost of Ownership for materials and supplies
Communicate with management, from other departments, regularly regarding the efficient flow of goods and services affecting production
Develop risk management procedures to mitigate losses in the event of product shortages
Work closely with the company legal department to ensure contracts and terms are favourable
Execute the supplier relationship management process including but not limited to tracking supplier performance metrics, cost influences and customer satisfaction metrics
Ensure timely and professional service to user departments in the preparation and evaluations of bids, negotiation with suppliers, award recommendations, preparation of contract documentation, issuance of award of contracts and regret letters, and management and close out of contracts related to materials and goods
Develop effective relationships with key suppliers that reflect both a customer and vendor perspective
Interface with key client executives, ensure effective visibility of the purchasing vision, and build and maintain strong working relationships with internal clients to ensure client satisfaction
Ensures value for money is achieved whilst complying with statutory requirements, regulation and policies and promote ethical and transparent procurement.
Accountable to ensure that adequate and appropriate internal controls are in place and procurement is conducted in compliance with Company policies and procedures.
Develop procurement strategies that are inventive and cost effective
Control the procurement and supply chain budget, and promote a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs
Conducting cost analyses and setting benchmarks for improvement
Optimize warehouse usage
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, or business administration
5 years proven experience leading and directing large supply chain operation teams under pressure / time constraints to meet deadlines
In-depth knowledge of preparing and reviewing contracts, invoicing, and negotiation terms
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Demonstration of organization maturity through experience at a major mining company
Must demonstrate significant knowledge of all of the disciplines referenced in this job profile; specifically, procurement, strategic sourcing and category management understanding
Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
Strong management, project management, communication, and interpersonal skills
Advanced project management skills
Strong knowledge of standard industry approaches with respect to procurement, contracts, and materials management
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access)
