With a focus on excellence, we strive to create a culture of continuous improvement and student-centered learning.The Superintendent will be directly reporting to the Board of Trustees, and will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of educational program and building operations within our district.
The School Superintendent will provide strategic direction and leadership to ensure the academic success and overall well-being of our students with a staff of 150 employees. Our school district serves approximately 1,300 Kindergarten through grade twelve students. The School Superintendent will work closely with the School Board, Principals, staff, parents and the community to foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.The ideal candidate for this role will have a proven track record of successful leadership in an educational setting.
The School Superintendent must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to build collaborative relationships with stakeholders at all levels. A deep understanding of curriculum development, budget management, and student assessment is also essential.In addition to serving as the educational leader of the district, the School Superintendent will be responsible for recruiting and retaining top talent, implementing innovative educational programs, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. This role requires a visionary thinker who can inspire and motivate others to achieve their full potential.Leadership and Vision:Serve as the liaison between the school district and the New York State Education Department (NYSED).Submits all reports required by the federal and state laws.Develops and communicate a clear vision for the district's educational goals and priorities in conjunction with the Board of Directors.Lead the development and implementation of the district's strategic plan.Accountable for overseeing all aspects of educational operations within our district.Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in teaching and learning
Hold regular meetings with Building Principals, Supervisors, Directors and all other administrators to discuss progress and educational challenges facing the District.Direct the operations and activities of administrators; see that they effectively guide and coordinate the operations and activities of the educational system; secure their assistance in formulating internal objectives, plans and programs; evaluate their job performance; and stand ready at all times to render them advice and support.Establishes and administers the school district's evaluation and performance management programs, to ensure that the standards of employee performance are maintained, constructive feedback is provided and corrective action taken when necessary.Approve the vacation schedules for administrators; and be personally responsible for all evaluations of administrators.2. Board Relations:Serves as the primary liaison between the school board and the district's staff
Serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the school district administering the development and maintenance of a positive educational program designed to foster student achievement and meet the needs of the school community in conformance with Board policies and applicable law.Attend all retreat/meetings of the Board.Report directly to the Board of Trustees.Act as reference agent for issues and concerns that have been brought to the Board of Directors.Implement policies and directives established by the school board.Provide regular updates to the board on district performance, needs and initiatives.Prepares and submits to the Board recommendations relative to all matters requiring Board action, placing before the Board such information and reports will enable the Board to make informed decisions.Conducts a periodic audit of the school program(s), and advises the Board on recommendations for the educational advancement of the district.Supervises the carrying out of all laws, regulations and Board policies.Work with Board members, advisors, including auditors, architects, attorneys, consultants and contractors. 3. Educational Program Management:Oversees the timely revisions of all academic curriculum
Attend educational conferences and visit other districts as necessary to keep Principals and the Board of Trustees informed of changing trends and laws in education.See to the development throughout the District of high standards of performance in educational achievement, use and development of personnel, public responsibility and operating efficiency.Work alongside school Principals and leaders to continuously evaluate and optimize teaching practices, training programs, curriculum delivery, assessments, and other aspects influencing the school's academic operations and atmosphere.Development, support, supervision, coaching, and evaluation of K-12 PrincipalsWorking with school administrators to cultivate a constructive atmosphere among faculty, staff, pupils and community.Develop and implement strategies continually to improve Principal professional development initiatives for optimal results.Collaborate with Principals to structure and carry out comprehensive summer and annual professional development seminars for teachers and staff.Develop a personalized training curriculum that caters to the specific needs of the Principals and instructional leaders, considering varying levels of experience and expertise. 4. Financial Management:Develop and manage the district's budget in conjunction with the District's CPA in alignment with educational priorities.Maintain adequate records for the schools, including a system of financial accounts, business and property records, school population.
Act as custodian of such records and all contracts, securities, documents, title papers, books records, and other papers belonging to the Board.Ensure the efficient and effective use of district resources.Pursue additional funding opportunities through grants and partnerships. 5. Grant Writing and Fundraising:Identify potential grant opportunities from Federal, State and private sources.Write and submit grant proposals to secure funding for district initiatives.Develop and maintain relationships with funding agencies and organizations.Monitor and ensure compliance with grant requirements and reporting. 6. Compliance and Accountability:Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations
Oversee the development and implementation of policies and procedures
Monitor and report on the district's performance, ensuring accountability and transparency.Oversee and administer the use of all school district facilities, property and funds to ensure that those resources are utilize in an appropriate manner. 7. Crisis Management:Develops and implement plans for emergency preparedness and crisis response
Lead the district's response to emergencies, ensuring the safety and well-being of students and staff. 8. Community Engagement:Serve as the public face of the district and engage with stakeholders, including parents, community members and local organizations.Establish and maintain liaison with community groups that are interested or involved in the educational programs of the District.Communicate effectively about the district's goals, challenges and achievements.Build partnerships to support educational initiatives and student success. Academic & certification qualifications:Doctorate Degree preferred
Master's Degree a MUSTNew York State School Building Leader (SBL) or School District Leader (SDL) Certificate a MUST Knowledge and Abilities:Thorough knowledge of current trends in research and practices in public education
Demonstrated competence in leadership, management, interpersonal relations and communication.Ability to maintain and instill high standards of ethics and integrity.Knowledge of teaching methods, educational pedagogy and behavioral management methods successful in school environments at all levels.Knowledge of administration and supervision concepts.Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education, students, professional staff and other employees, etc.Proven ability to work collaboratively and flexibly with a diverse team of teachers and administrators

Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed Work experience & skills:A minimum of five years' experience as a School Principal in a high-performing urban public school is required.Passionately dedicated to school's mission and vision with a steadfast belief that all students will receive a rigorous academic foundation.An adept problem-solver with a demonstrated ability to think critically, plan strategically, as well as research and perform detailed data analysis.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required to develop rubrics, examine data and metrics that will enhance student knowledge and promote performance of superior work products
