JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Summer Youth Activities Supervisor DEPARTMENT: MYDP
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt CATEGORY: Temporary
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with planning and implementation of activities and/or youth sports events and practices;
Instruct, lead, engage, and observe youth activities participants ages 6-13 through hands on activities, presentations, games; and field trips;
Supervisor of Summer Youth Workers, employees ages 14-17, acts as a leader and mentor providing them with instructions for daily activities;
Ensure that all activities participants are supervised and maintain a safe and enjoyable activities environment at all times;
Maintain Track each youth participant medical conditions and photo release restrictions;
Maintain and track activities supplies for program activities and let Program coordinator know when supplies are needed;
Perform head-counts, fill out paperwork, and maintain daily logs of participants throughout the day;
Ensure Youth Employees and Youth participants are following safety protocols;
Support youth participants with emotional and social development by encouraging understating and positive concepts;
Identify Participants emotional issues and bring to Activities Counselor & Parents attention;
Assigned and perform daily set-up and cleanup of all activities areas;
Assigned and/or manage bus monitor duties for activities transportation schedule as needed;
Assigned and perform daily snack duties for activities program;
Participate in youth program staff meetings and trainings;
Promote problem solving and creative approaches to activities program challenges;
Maintain and Work collaboratively with parents, community members, and program partners;
Maintain confidentiality;
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. required, college credits preferred, 18 years or older
One (1) year of work experience required, employment experience working in camps with children, or with specific activities preferred
Good Moral character and patience required
Must be able to exercise mature judgment
Must possess public speaking abilities, organization, teamwork, and the ability to multitask
Ability to work in a variety of outside and indoor conditions i.e., sun, wind, and rain
Ability to lift, carry, push, pull heavy objects, or support the weight of children
Ability to walk long distances, run, swim, climb, twist, bend, stoop, crouch, and/or stretch for extended periods of time
Ability to maintain high levels of energy and enthusiasm for prolonged periods
Must obtain and maintain current adult and child CPR/AED certifications (provided during training)
Must complete Mandatory Reporter Training
Must complete paid onboarding and training, to be determined
Must be available from May 28-August 16
Must pass a background criminal background check
Must pass pre-employment drug screening
Indian Preference shall be applied to qualified Indian Candidates in accordance with the Sac and Fox Tribal Code Section 9-124
SUPERVISION:
SALARY:
$16.00 per hour
Must be able to work 7:30AM-5PM Monday through Thursday and Friday 9AM-1 PM to conduct and/or attend training.
Applicants will be required to submit to a background check and to a pre-employment drug test.
