At the present time, vacancies for Summer part-time Student Support Specialists exist for a MEP school-based campus in Philadelphia at Lincoln High School within the Migrant Education Program (MEP), Student Services Division of the CCIU. These positions will work with migrant children in Philadelphia, Bucks, Delaware, and Montgomery Counties for the duration of the summer only.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field, preferred

  • Bilingual speaking, preferred (Spanish, Khmer, Burmese, Karen, Q'eqchi', Swahili, Pashto, Dari)

  • Experience working with emerging multilingual students, preferred

  • Experience working with preschool, elementary students, and/or secondary school students required

  • Experience working with immigrant or refugee children and families, preferred

  • Basic computer knowledge, required

  • Must have Act 33 and 34 Clearances

  • Must have Federal Criminal History record

Duties and Responsibilities:

1.Implement Migrant Education Summer Program for preschool, elementary, and/or secondary migrant students in Philadelphia, Delaware, Montgomery, and Bucks Counties.

2.Facilitate reading, writing, speaking, and listening learning across the content areas with migrant students in a classroom setting

3.Submit weekly lesson plans, implement curriculum as provided, and submit end-of-summer progress reports

4.Provide regular communication with Migrant Education Program staff and families

5.Attend summer in-service, family meetings, and weekly staff meetings

Estimated work days and hours:

Program Dates: June 24 - July 30, 2024

Staff In-service: June 17

Location: Lincoln High School

Summer Program Days/Hours: Monday

  • Thursday, 9am

  • 3pm

2 hours additional paid weekly lesson planning and preparation

2023 - 2024 Salary:

Starting at $28.70 - $35.87 per hour
