Compensation:?$55/hour for up to 100 hours
Description: Proviso Township High Schools District 209 is seeking Summer- School Counselors for Enrollment and Scheduling for Summer 2025. Summer- School Counselors for Enrollment and Scheduling must have the required endorsements for this position. They must commit to attend professional development prior to the beginning of the summer session. Additional dates may be outlined by the Deputy Superintendent for Educational Services or designee to ensure a smooth program.
Qualifications:
Valid Illinois Professional Educator License
Endorsement in School Counseling (formerly 73 School Service Personnel Certification)
Previous High School Counseling Experience
Data Analysis Experience
Master's Degree, desired

Counselor Responsibilities:
- Develop Class Schedules: Collaborate with school leadership to create student schedules based on course selections, graduation requirements, and academic goals.
- Assess Academic Needs: Meet with students to discuss their strengths, weaknesses, and future goals, helping them select appropriate courses.
- Resolve Schedule Conflicts: Address and adjust any conflicts in student schedules to ensure required courses are taken.
- Monitor Academic Progress: Regularly review students' academic performance and recommend course changes as needed.
- Assist with Course Changes: Guide students through the process of requesting schedule changes or course drops, ensuring compliance with school policies.
- Monitor Class Enrollment Numbers: Track student enrollment in each class to maintain appropriate class sizes according to school policies.
- Collaborate with Administration: Work with administrators and department heads to assess class enrollment and adjust as needed.
- Coordinate Course Adjustments: Address overcrowded or underpopulated classes by redistributing students or adjusting schedules.
- Assist with Staffing Adjustments: Provide input on staffing needs to ensure balanced class sizes and adequate support.
- Ensure Compliance with Class Size Policies: Ensure all class size adjustments align with district-wide policies and guidelines.
- Provide Support for Special Programs: Ensure special education and other support programs maintain optimal class sizes and necessary adjustments.
- Support Special Education Scheduling: Collaborate with special education staff to ensure students with IEPs or 504 plans are scheduled appropriately.
- Ensure Graduation Requirements: Advise students on course selections that meet graduation requirements and track progress towards graduation.
- Assist with Enrollment Process: Support students and families in completing and submitting required enrollment documents, as necessary.
- Enrollment Support: Assist incoming students and families to assess educational needs and place students in appropriate programs.
- Coordinate with Other School Departments: Collaborate with administrative staff, the registrar, and relevant departments to facilitate student registration.
- Orientation for New Students: Assist with the organization of orientation sessions to help new students adjust to the school environment.
- Enrollment Data: Maintain accurate records of student enrollment data.
