Be a Summer Reading Hero! Summer Reading Intervention Teachers Needed (Grades 1-6)
Do you have a passion for literacy and a desire to make a difference in children's lives?
SWL Schools is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic teachers to join our team for our impactful Summer Reading Intervention Program! If you're eager to help students in grades 1-6 develop strong reading skills and prevent summer slide, then we want you on board!
About Summer Reading Intervention Program:
Our program provides a fun and engaging environment where students can participate in intensive reading intervention to strengthen their literacy skills and prepare them for a successful new school year. Campers will benefit from:
Small group instruction: Personalized attention and targeted support to address individual reading needs.
Engaging reading activities: Interactive games, hands-on projects, and exciting stories that foster a love of reading.
Phonics and decoding practice: Building a strong foundation in foundational reading skills.
Fluency and comprehension strategies: Developing the ability to read smoothly and understand what they read.
Differentiated instruction: Catering to each student's learning style and pace.
Positive and supportive atmosphere: Encouraging a growth mindset and celebrating reading achievements.
Responsibilities of a Summer Reading Intervention Teacher:
Develop and deliver engaging and age-appropriate reading lessons based on individual student needs.
Utilize a variety of instructional methods to promote phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary development, and comprehension skills.
Conduct regular assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
Foster a positive learning environment that celebrates reading success.
Maintain clear communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress.
Collaborate with other camp staff to ensure a seamless program experience.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education with appropriate teaching license (k-8, 1-8, k-3 or a 4-9 ELA) or reading endorsement.
Strong understanding of the Science of Reading and effective reading instruction practices.
Experience working with children in a literacy intervention setting a plus.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment.
Patience, enthusiasm, and a passion for reading.
First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
