Summer Parks Laborer Hourly Pay $14.00

Schedule:

Days: Monday

  • Friday

Hours: 7 a.m.

  • 3 p.m.

Definition: Under direct to general supervision, is responsible for performing strenuous unskilled or semi-skilled labor of routine difficulty.

Essential Functions: (Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may vary among positions, but may include the following tasks, knowledge, abilities, skills and other characteristics. This list of tasks is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and not intended to be a comprehensive listing of tasks performed by all positions in the classification.)

Tasks:

  • Mows lawns, trims plants and shrubs, and prunes bushes and trees.

  • Physically move large quantities of dirt and turf.

  • Repairs and replaces tires, and maintains and cleans shop area.

  • Keeps records of time worked.

  • Assists equipment operators in a variety of work settings to ensure safe and efficient completion of assigned projects.

  • Performs simple mechanical repairs.

  • May operate light motor vehicles such as lawn mowers, pickup trucks, and light dump trucks.

Knowledge, Abilities, Skills and Other Characteristics:

  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.

  • Ability of perform manual labor requiring extensive physical exertion and prolonged exposure to the environment.

  • Ability to receive and follow oral and written instructions.

  • Ability to lift objects weighing over 50 pounds.

  • Ability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.

  • Skill in the operation and care of various tire servicing and repair equipment.

  • Skill in the use of a variety of hand and power tools.

Qualifications:

  • New Mexico Drivers License or ability to obtain one within 60-90 days.

  • Follow written instructions.

  • Follow oral instructions.

  • Ability to use power tools in a safe manner.

  • Experience equivalent to six (6) months of full-time labor and minor repair work.

Physical Functions:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally (i.e. up to one third of work day), from ground to waist level.

  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. Frequently to constantly (i.e., from one-third up to entire work day), from ground to shoulder level.

  • Ability to sit up to four hours at one time, and up to eight hours total per day.

  • Ability to stand and/or walk for up to four hours at one time, and up to eight hours total per day.

  • Ability to climb in and out of equipment cabs when needed to assist crew in performance of duties.

  • Must be able to crouch, kneel, and remain in a prone position for up to 30 minutes at one time.

  • Must be able to bend at the waist, and twist/rotate as necessary, in excess of 50 times total per day.

  • Must be able to work with arms bent or extended for up to four hours at one time, and up to eight hours total per day.

  • Must be able to push/pull with arms, with a force up to five pounds for up to four hours at one time, and up to eight hours total per day.

  • Must be able to maintain balance while climbing in and out of equipment cabs, and while lifting and/or carrying heavy objects.

  • Must be able to push with legs with up to 40 pounds of force, to operate foot controls of heavy equipment for up to four hours at one time, and up to eight hours total per day.

  • Must be able to twist/rotate legs and feet at times in order to operate foot controls

  • Must be able to use hands and fingers to grasp/manipulate levers and steering wheel in a bilaterally coordinated manner.

  • Must also be able to use hands and fingers to grasp/manipulate writing utensils and other materials used in the performance of administrative duties.

  • Must be able to coordinate use of hands and eyes in operation of equipment, as needed.

  • Must be able to coordinate use of hands and eyes in operation of vehicle and various office equipment.

Working Conditions:

  • Essential duties are performed both indoors and outdoors.

  • Indoor duties may or may not be conducted in a temperature-controlled environment. Worker is exposed to natural conditions while performing outdoor duties.

  • Worker is exposed to intermittent noise and vibration factors.

  • Worker is exposed to diesel fumes, as well as fumes from carbon, gasoline and acetylene gas. Worker is also exposed to dusty, dirty conditions, and some work is performed in areas with poor ventilation.

  • Work may be performed on an even or uneven surface, which may be wet or dry. Work may be performed on inclines or hills, working surface may be flat and hard, dusty, grass, asphalt, or concrete. Surface may be slick or greasy.

  • Worker may perform duties alone, both with or without directions. Worker may also perform duties as part of a select team.

  • Work hazards, or potential work hazards, include working around hot engines, using air guns, using a sledge hammer, working with and lifting large equipment and parts, performing work on a surface which may be slick, working with various solvents, performing welding procedures, and being exposed to possible severe weather conditions.
