TITLE: SUMMER MUSIC CAMP TEACHER
DATES OF PROGRAM: Monday-Friday, July 8 - 12, 2024 @ Bellingham High School
POSITION SUMMARY:
This program is designed to help engage and re-engage students after interrupted learning from the COVID-19 pandemic. The Summer Music Camp Program will address acceleration of learning post-pandemic, social-emotional learning, limitations in instrumentation due to the pandemic, and supports high school instrumental/choir courses for grade 5-8.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Select appropriate literature and curriculum materials that develop musicianship, independence, and technique for a 1-week music program in a variety of settings: instrumental, choral and music appreciation
2.Differentiate instruction and coaching to accelerate learning and close achievement gaps post pandemic
3.Teach and coach students in the fundamentals of music ensemble playing - tone quality, balance and blend, intonation, tempo, articulation/diction, expression, style and phrasing
4.As a faculty team, develop 5 independent rhythm-based lessons as integral sessions for each day of camp
5.As a faculty team, develop 5 breathing, posture and stretching lessons as integral sessions for each day of camp
6.Design fun and engaging lessons that encourage respect, compassion, inclusive and team-building strategies
7.Prepare an end-of-camp narrative summary about the program, student work, areas of success and areas of improvement for the future
8.Supervise students at arrival dismissal and break times
9.Additional duties as assigned by the camp facilitator or Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment
QUALIFICATIONS:
1 MA Educator License in Music grades PK-12
2.Current member of the Bellingham Public School faculty preferred
SALARY: $33 per hour, 4 hours per day plus 1 hour of prep per day, 5 days total (in addition to teaching, facilitator will receive an additional 5 hours prep @ $33 per hour), subject to grant funding
