General Statement of Internship
Intern will be responsible for assisting tradesmen maintain school buildings and grounds. Intern will serve as an apprentice to various trades such as carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, etc. Intern will perform other duties as assigned. This internship will report to the Maintenance Supervisor.
4 weeks $1,500
8 weeks $3,000
Amount will be prorated for time worked.
Must be currently enrolled in school and have building trades experience through a Career & Technology Education (CATE) program. Candidates with shop training in their curricula are preferred. Must be able to follow instructions, work independently with minimal supervision and meet the physical demands of a maintenance position. Candidates must have reliable transportation to and from internship site.
Candidate must pass criminal background and Sex Offender Registry Checks.
Duties and Responsibilities
Candidate will assist Maintenance in day-to-day functions:
Maintaining school buildings and grounds in top condition.
Painting various school buildings.
Moving equipment and materials within and between school buildings.
Other duties as assigned.
Candidate will be exposed to planning, scheduling and estimating materials.
Physical requirements/environmental conditions:
Must be able to work indoors and outdoors.
Must be able to work in and around dust, fumes and odors.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
Must adhere to District Confidentiality (Confidentiality Statement will be signed and dated before internship commences.)
