Job Description:

WUSA9 is in search of a talented college student looking for an enriching paid internship opportunity in our Special Assignment Unit. Come join WUSA9, the CBS affiliate in the Washington DC market and a division of TEGNA Inc., a Fortune 500 global digital media company, for our 2019 Summer Intern Program.

Special Assignment Unit Internship: Interns will work with a team of reporters, producers and photojournalist-editors with story research and set-up.

The WUSA9 Special Assignment Unit focuses on investigative and long-form story telling. Interns will have the opportunity to go into the field with reporters and producers and assist them on stories. Interns will also be given the opportunity to write for the WUSA9 website.

Having a background in data-driven research is a plus, along with strong social media skills. Applicants should also be well versed in local, national and world events. They should also be self-starters with strong computer and writing skills.

Job Requirements

  • Must be pursuing Bachelor's degree with a GPA of at least 3.0

  • Must be well organized, detail oriented, adaptable and flexible

  • Must possess excellent communication skills

JOB DESCRIPTION Learning Objectives: * By working directly with Executive Producers, this internship will give students a thorough understanding of the production and creative processes for both series and specials that air on NGW. * Intern will help create & maintain select data bases, log & transcribe footage and create a bi-weekly update of current popular content across broadcast & digital platforms. * Intern will review incoming cuts and provide editorial feedback to Executive Producers. * Additional specific projects will emerge over the course of the internship based upon students' areas of interest.
