National Grid isexcited to offer paid internships that will offer you a wide range oftechnical, managerial and operational opportunities for summer 2019. Theseopportunities will help you gain valuable insight into National Grid as well asthe Energy/Utility industry as a whole, all the while helping you build yourprofessional network.

Starting May/June 2019through August 2019, spend a summer as a GRIDtern and help advance your skillsthrough a first day Orientation Session, hands on projects within yourdepartment, volunteer opportunities, field/work site visits, networkingsessions (Lunch & Learns, etc.) and much more.

Detailedresponsibilities will vary depending on your course of study and assigneddepartment. Internship departments may include but are not limited to:

Compliance & Permitting

o Assist with tasks to ensure compliance with federal, state, andlocal environmental regulations such as those governing site clean-up and wastemanagement.

o Conduct field work to collect data to help facilitate theenvironmental licensing and permitting of new utility infrastructure.


o Providesupport writing energy/environmental/climate policypositions

o Performanalytics on National Grid's waste reduction initiative and assist in employeeoutreach and engagement to increase awareness in proper waste disposal. Someinterstate travel will be required.


o Assistingwith regulatory research & filings.

o Participatingin evaluation studies of our NY energy efficiency programs.

  • 3.0 Cumulative GPA for Undergraduate Students

  • 3.2 Cumulative GPA for Graduate Students

  • Applicant must have accumulated 18 or more credits and be 18 years of age

  • Authorized to work in the United States for the entire duration of the internship

  • Registered in school as a full time student

Interns are matched with a 10-12 week project based on their skill set combined with business needs. All projects are developed by our Senior Leadership Team and have significant strategic and/or operating importance to the business unit to which they are assigned. Similar to our MBA Graduate Leadership Development Program, our Internship Program projects are designed to address current business needs. In order to ensure projects are challenging and also meet the needs of our dynamic business, final projects will not be determined until late spring.
