Position Overview:
Our Intern Program provides students the opportunity to work alongside public health professionals and obtain workforce training. Interns will assist HCPH staff to promote a healthy and safe community; prevent illness and injury; and protect the residents of Harris County. At the conclusion of the internship, students will have gained valuable, practical experience and be able to include their time with HCPH as workplace experience for future employment applications.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Public Health Business Acumen:
Work in an Administrative Function: Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, Marketing, Business Administration, Project Management, or Information Technology
Learn about the HCPH organization, and the services we provide to the Community
Coordination and Collaboration:
Plan, organize, and execute community outreach events to education community on public health issues and/or provide services
Plan, organize, and execute community projects for the benefit of county residents
Interface with internal and external stakeholders regarding public health efforts
Data Collection and Management:
Create evaluation tools and analyze data from population surveys or budget expenditures
Collect and analyze data from residents with infectious or chronic diseases, substance abuse issues, pregnant mothers, and children, etc. for state or federal grant funded health programs

Active enrollment in an undergraduate degree or trade program
Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
