Brief Description:

TTM offers paid summer internships to qualified Engineering students who are looking to gain professional experience in the field of engineering and manufacturing technology. Internships are designed to help build your professional credentials by providing meaningful, practical, on-the-job training and experiences, while also igniting your imagination.

Opportunities exist throughout our company and are available to students who are motivated to learn and grow. You will get a chance to contribute your best ideas and work in an environment that inspires innovative results. Students in our internship program provide tremendous value to our organization through increased productivity, introduction of innovative, fresh ideas and talent, and often become reliable and skilled full-time employees. Projects that interns worked on last year included:

  • Using a collaborative robot arm and designing tooling and a process to automate an intensive and painful deburr process.

  • Developing the ability for a mobile robot (AGV) to move throughout the factory and integrate with our manufacturing execution systems.

  • Writing software to control a live machine and actuation.

  • Developing a process, specify a robot, and program it to test the solderability of our circuit boards.

Program Features:

  • Opportunity to interact and work with interns across North America with diverse backgrounds and skillsets.

  • Guidance and mentorship from at least 2 engineers, but empowerment to develop your own project.

  • Travel to 1-2 TTM sites other than the one you are working at.

  • Learn how to present your ideas to gain support present your project to the site leadership, as well as executives of a $3 billion company.

  • Work with a diverse array of skillsets to understand real world, real company processes (process engineers, automation engineers, machinists, process technicians, solder technicians, operators, etc.)

  • The student must be enrolled in an accredited college or university technical undergraduate program, and be a

junior going into their senior year of college, scheduled to graduate by August 2021 at the latest. Student must also be in good academic standing.

  • Demonstrated technical ability and aptitude to develop and work on engineering projects.

  • Due to ITAR regulations, applicants must be US Citizen or Permanent Resident

VIEW JOBS 1/9/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-04-08T00:00 Scope: Under limited supervision, this position is responsible to perform a variety of routine inspection procedures to ensure quality at various stages of production. Controlling and documenting non-conforming, in-process assemblies, sub-assemblies and supplier parts. Working from blueprints, engineering change notices, or established operating procedures determines acceptance, rejection, or rework requirements or units. Prepares and maintains inspection / returned merchandise authorization reports and records. Requires the ability to interpret quality control specifications. Duties and Responsibilities: (include but are not limited to) * Receive RMA (returned merchandise) product in and document customer rejection/complaint on RMA Traveler. * Maintain detailed paperwork/traceability records for each unit returned, including the proper storage of these records. * Coordinate product flow with RMA Lead or Supervisor into rework and test RMA areas. * Follow established procedures/checklist where necessary to ensure efficient movement of product. * Assure product is reworked and re-inspected maintaining the highest quality standards required. * Work with RMA Lead and Quality Engineers on TTM responsible escape to drive corrective and preventive actions on TTM workmanship returns. * As required by RMA Lead, take part in Failure Analysis activities including Root Cause Analysis using Error Proofing tools as it related to internal and external quality concerns and reporting. * Report severe damage, non-conformances and deviations to process or procedures to RMA Lead and/or Quality Control Manager. * Provide initial disposition on cause and responsibility of any TTM or supplier escapes. * Complete and file all necessary paperwork accurately and efficiently; documents and reports quality issues during the production process to supervisor. * Follow all company Safety and ESD Program requirements. * Communicates regularly to supervisors and managers, suggests and composes procedural changes, maintains a clean, safe work environment, and communicates to supervisors safety hazards and issues. * Properly handle and dispose all waste, including hazardous wastes that are generated in daily operations as directed by the EHS department. * All other assigned duties as required within the Quality organization. Specific Task Assignments: * Respond to RMA Department requests * Complete part traveler, including required part and process flow to bring product back to specification. * Inspect product for conformance before allowing any product to be shipped. In addition, ensure RMA staff is meeting given product flow requirements. * Maintain cleanliness of department according to company's expectations and specific industrial standards. * Control daily RMA defect sheets and ensure that data is being submitted for input into SPC database accurately and completely. Coordinate defect escape prevention activities with RMA Lead and Quality Engineer for all production and inspection departments. Essential Knowledge and Skills: * High School diploma or equivalent. Working knowledge of IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 preferred. * High level of interpersonal and good communication skills. Reads, writes and understands English language. * Ability to perform all responsibilities of a bench/floor inspector in the electronics field. * Ability to interpret blueprints. * Computer skills: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Access, Excel, Word and Outlook. * Ability to work up to 10 hours a day and weekends as needed based on business demands. * Capability to check work within close tolerances and ability to exercise good judgment. * Ability to pass eye exam with a minimum 20/20 vision that may be corrected via eyeglasses or contact lenses as required. Eye exam is required annually. * Willingness and ability to work in a team environment, assist other departments when workloads demand it and effectively work with all levels of the organization. * Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time. Ability to lift and maneuver 1-25lbs. * Ability to work with or come in contact with chemical, physical (radiation, noise, etc) or biological agents which may pose health or safety hazards if improperly handled. * Due to ITAR requirements, applicants must be a U.S. Citizen or a Permanent Resident. * Regular attendance is an essential job function for this position.
