The Information Center Desk Attendant works in the fast paced environment of the Hulman Memorial Student Union (HMSU). Candidates must be able to provide accurate information in response to the various questions about Indiana State University as well as any related event taking place on or off ISU's campus. Applicants must be able to provide quality customer service to faculty, staff, other students, visitors to the University, community partners, camps, conference guests, and the general public. The Information Center Attendant is also responsible for checking out games and equipment.

Specific Responsibilities

This positions work schedule is 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday, and Saturdays month of June. Work hours can be split between several student workers.

Job Duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provide accurate information as requested by customers at the Information Center

Research and have a working knowledge of, or ability to research, a variety of sources for Indiana State University and community information

Issue refunds for vending machines on campus

Open and close the Information Center

Have a strong working knowledge of scheduled events in the HMSU

Manage the reservations for the information tables and monitor daily activity

Provide lost and found services

Be attentive to the safety and security of the HMSU

Sort mail and distribute (as needed)

Identify and resolve any situation which might endanger the customer's safety and security

Enforce HMSU policies and procedures

Execute emergency procedures (such as building evacuations or medical emergencies)

Complete applicable forms and reports

Model appropriate behavior and provide leadership for other HMSU student workers

Foster communication among student workers

Create a friendly atmosphere in the HMSU for students, staff and visitors, by building positive working relationships with ISU Public Safety, and other campus entities

Relay all pertinent information/issues to staff members as appropriate

Attend all scheduled meetings and training sessions

Timeliness for all scheduled shifts

Applicant must be available to work nights and weekends until 12 am.

Maintains full responsibility over own schedule and any shift swaps

Performs other duties as assigned
