Do you love cooking? Do you love sharing your masterpieces with others? Do you enjoy overseeing your own Kitchen? Are you working in the school system and want a summer job and a FREE camp experience for your kids? This is a fantastic job for someone with food service experience, like a cafeteria worker or food service staff, who enjoys planning meals and cooking. The Kitchen Manager coordinates with different areas of camp to help accommodate their food-related needs for everything from projects for cooking activities (which are actually run by other people) to making lunches for campers (and staff) who forget to bring, to planning all three daily meals for campers who spend the night 2 or 3 days per week.  The Kitchen Manager plays a vital role in providing an exceptional dining experience for campers and staff at our day camp.

The Kitchen Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the camp kitchen, ensuring high-quality meals are prepared and served in a safe and timely manner. In this role, you would also collaborate with the camp director and other staff members to create a menu that meets the dietary needs and preferences of campers and staff. Additionally, this position is responsible for managing inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen space.

Orientation takes place the week of June 17th and ends with Visiting Day (a pre-camp visit for all campers and families to meet staff) on Sunday, June 23. The regular camp season begins June 24 and ends August 16 (with the option to work the following “9th Week” for additional pay). The camp day runs from about 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with three staff meetings on various Monday evenings. The Kitchen Manager may also be asked to assist with up to 5 dinner cookouts throughout the summer.

As all our alumni can tell you, summers at Camp Grossman are amazingly fun and provide you with great skills that will serve you well in future jobs and life in general. The Grossman team is a dynamic group that works as a tight team to create wonderful experiences for children while helping them build confidence and skills. Camp Grossman is on 75 acres of the Hale Reservation in Dover. JCC Greater Boston offers free camp bus service from many towns in the Greater Boston area, making it possible for many counselors/staff to receive transportation from their home communities.
