Position Specific Description
The Web Application Development Intern will work alongside the full-time and contract employees to design, plan, implement, test and support customer and internally facing applications for the mass markets area of Gexa Energy. The Intern will directly contribute to the development life cycle from initial requirement analysis/documentation, prototyping, design, and development all the way through to implementation, quality assurance and user acceptance.
This is an opportunity to complete challenging work assignments that blend strategic and operational skills to produce business results in a fast paced and highly rewarding environment, as well as to be surrounded by highly skilled junior and senior developers for informal mentorship.
Develop an understanding of processes, applications, and data that are used for report/dashboard generation.
Assist full-time and contractor development team to successfully complete the tasks.
Work on individual assignments that entails developing/modifying web applications in technologies such as C#, AngularJS, Angular2, NodeJS, MongoDB, as well SQL Server and Oracle.
Provide stakeholders and manager with regular written or verbal status updates on the progress of assigned tasks.
Complete any other assigned tasks.
Student currently enrolled in Bachelor's degree in the areas of Computer Science, MIS, or another related fields
Knowledge and experience with SQL database querying.
Knowledge and experience with object oriented and/or C based programming.
Prior knowledge of reporting tools such as SSRS or any Data Visualization tool is a plus.
Qualified candidates will have intellectual curiosity and the technical aptitude to understand business goals and problems, suggest solutions and draw conclusions, and then articulate a plan to execute.
Ability to initiate and follow through on assignments.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, researching, and resolving questions and problem.
Employees in the role will be provided mentoring and practical hands on experience for relevant career-related activities encountered in the students area of study or specialization. To be considered for this position the applicant must be actively enrolled at a college or university as a full-time student seeking a bachelors degree or higher. Candidate must also have a current GPA of 3.00 or higher (on a 0.00 to 4.00 scale).
