Summer Clerical Worker

JOB SUMMARY:

Works on a project that is sponsored by SCDOT, focuses on highway curve safety. Helps "clean" a spatial database of highway curves, followed by populating curve attributes. Will get a opportunity to work with South Carolina crash data.

JOB DUTIES:

45% - Essential

• Runs python scripts in ArcGIS to clean curve shapes including removing unwanted segments and joining others. Attributes will be added as appropriate.

45% - Essential

• Uses Google Earth and Google Street View to populate database attributes related to highway curves. Attributes include speed limit, the presence of certain signage, and roadside characteristics.

10% - Essential

• May get a opportunity to manipulate crash data if time permits.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: There are no minimum training or experience requirements for this class.

Work Experience: 0+ years; Rising High School Senior, High School Graduate, or existing Clemson student Interest in STEM a plus

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

Expected Salary Range: ($ 11.30 - $ 15.00)

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

Normal Operations

Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
