Position runs from May 5th- August 8th, 2025
40 hours per week, Monday-Friday

Position Summary
This position reports to Education Programs Management and assists with the facilitation of ZooTampa's summer camp programs for children in Kindergarten through 8th Grade.
Candidates must have experience working with children of a variety of ages, be organized, creative, flexible, and have high energy and a positive attitude. Candidates must possess excellent communication skills and work well in a team environment.
Candidates must be able to attend New Hire Orientation the week of May 5th, and be available every week from May 19th-August 8th, 2025, to be eligible for hire.

Experience Required
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities: Ability to manage workload, as well as flexibility to adapt to the changing needs of children under your supervision. Ability to work well with all ages and provide a high level of service to Zoo staff, visitors, and program participants. Ability to speak in front of groups of various sizes and ages. Ability to employ effective educational techniques. Ability to work independently, with general direction from leadership. Ability to establish positive and productive relationships with co-workers, children and families. Ability to communicate openly and to utilize excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to physically and mentally maintain control during emergencies that may arise. Other Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to play actively with children on their level, bend over, stand for extensive periods of time, and move quickly when necessary. Must be able to work and move outside in the typical Florida climate, at times temperatures exceeding 90 degrees. Must be able to successfully complete a Level II background screening. At least 1 year of college preferred, with focus in Education, Biology, Zoology, Environmental Science, or Psychology. Experience in an informal educational setting such as a zoo, aquarium, or museum preferred. Current CPR and First Aid training preferred. Fluency in Spanish preferred.
