Summer Camp Counselor, Part-Time, Temporary Position For Summer

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES: A Summer at SCS counselor is responsible for supervising and engaging a group of children throughout their camp activities, ensuring their safety, well-being, and positive experience. Counselors provide leadership and guidance, motivating campers to try new things, build confidence, and develop social skills while creating a fun, inclusive, and memorable summer camp environment.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Supervising campers and ensuring their safety during all activities, including sports, games, swimming, and field trips.

• Providing leadership and guidance to campers, while facilitating their personal and social development.

• Creating a safe and supportive environment for campers, including enforcing camp rules and discipline.

• Assisting in planning and leading group activities, games, and special events.

• Encouraging campers to participate in new experiences, build friendships, and develop new skills.

• Addressing concerns and conflicts with campers and their families, escalating issues to superiors when necessary.

• Being aware of any medical or dietary needs of campers and ensuring that the appropriate staff members are informed of them.

• Collaborating with fellow counselors, sharing ideas, and providing feedback to ensure a positive and memorable camp experience for all.

QUALIFIED APPLICANTS:

• Must be a born-again believer in Jesus Christ; be involved with an evangelical, protestant church of like faith and practice; and agree with the philosophies, Statement of Faith, and Statement of Christian Life Commitment of Southside Christian School.

• Must be able to articulate an understanding of the bible and be a Christian role model for young children.

• Must be outgoing, fun, and comfortable with young children.

• Must at least 16 years old.

• Preference will be given to current SCS students and to SCS alumni.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to withstand summer heat while outside with campers.

• Must be able to evacuate campers in emergency situations.

• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
