Program Overview:
Internal Audit for the Americas (IAA) is a key department within MUFG's third line of defense. Our mission is to provide executive management and the Board of Directors with an independent view of asset quality and credit risk management practices across all businesses or functions that create or manage credit exposure.

The Internal Audit for the Americas team strives to do the following:

  • Provide independent and objective assurance of the effectiveness of MUFG Americas' risk management and control practices.

  • Influence Management to improve the governance, risk management and system of internal control across MUFG Americas.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to the Board of Directors, Senior Management and other key stakeholders over the control environment.

"On-the-Job" Experience & Training: IAA is looking for summer interns to work on a 10-week rotational assignment.

During the assignment, the interns will be exposed to running the "business" of Internal Audit, while performing various cross-functional audit and review assessments across the enterprise. The summer analyst will support the IAA Managers in execution of their audit plan, and will take part in various training opportunities, mentorship, skills development, and risk-based projects during the internship to provide him/her with a well-rounded experience in a corporate setting and exposure to the Bank process framework.

Support & Guidance: The assigned mentor/manager will provide goals and professional development guidance and conduct performance reviews as a commitment to our summer analysts.

The summer analyst will also have the opportunity to network with employees across different business groups and at all levels of the organization. In our open and inclusive environment, senior colleagues will know the summer analysts and will see the work being done. At the end of the program, students will leave the bank with a better understanding of the world of Internal Audit.

Career Progression: At the end of the program, the opportunity exists to receive an offer for full-time employment upon graduation. This decision will be made based on the performance of the student throughout the summer and department needs.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a 2019 rising senior; graduating Winter 2019 or Spring 2020

  • Strong interest or Majoring in Audit, Accounting, Finance or Business Management

  • Generally a GPA of 3.0 and above

  • Solid academic standing with recommended course work in finance, accounting or economics

  • Microsoft Suite proficiency (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Strong verbal, writing, mathematical and statistical skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and individual initiative, self-discipline and integrity, leadership qualities and the ability to develop creative solutions

  • Ability to work independently as well as in teams

Locations: Summer Internship opportunities will be available in our NY, Phoenix and Los Angeles Metro Areas.
