Summer Activity Camp: Basketball and Sports Camp Instructor

The Associated Recreation Council (ARC), in partnership with Seattle Parks & Recreation, is hiring a Basketball and Sports Camp Instructor. The instructor will be responsible for programming and delivering a sports class to kids aged 5-8 and 9-12. The instructor will be responsible for creating lessons and teaching the fundamentals of sports, particularly basketball. The instructor must have the ability to engage with a diverse group of children and manage an Indoor/outdoor classroom of students. A passion for sports and games are a must!

Work Weeks and Camp Schedule:

Monday- Friday, Part-time

July 1-5 from 12:30pm-4:30pm (no camp July 4)

July 8-12 from 8:30am-4:30pm

July 15-19 from 1-4pm 12:30pm-4:30pm

July 29-Aug 2 from 12:30pm-4:30pm

Aug 5-9 from 8:30am-4:30pm

Pay Range:

• $22.50- $32.50

Summer Activity Camp: Basketball and Sports Camp Instructor Requirements:

• Develop and deliver developmentally appropriate activity camp lesson plans/activities to kids ages 5-12 for camp running 4 hours per day, 20 hours a week. Some weeks will have 2 camps (Weeks of July 8 and August 5) 8 hours per day, 40 hours a week.

• Maintain documentation on camp participants to ensure security and youth safety- including but not limited to sign in sheets, medical needs and parenting plans.

• Use critical thinking to problem-solve and manage conflict.

• Generate supply lists for each camp; there will be some class supply funds available.

• Maintain camp appropriate professional appearance.

• Daily set-up, take down and cleaning of space.

Summer Activity Camp: Basketball and Camp Instructor Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be 18 years of age or older

• Prior youth programming experience required

• Must have demonstrated working experience working with families, community members and partners to foster positive relationships
