The District is seeking MULTIPLE TEACHERS for the 24/25 Elementary Summer Academy Program.

The program will begin July 8th and run through August 1st. Tentative hours will be 8:00 am - 12:00 pm, Monday through Thursday.

Please plan on attending a planning meeting in May. Please provide a letter of intent outlining your interest and the ages/grades you would be interested in working with.

Salary listed on this posting is from the 2023-2024 school year. Candidate selected will receive pay reflective of the 2024-2025 salary schedule once it is released.

Salary will be prorated to be proportionate with the number of days the Summer Academy is in session.

Viable candiate will hold a valide TSPC license or the ability to obtain one.

SUMMARY:
The Summer Academy teacher will guide students to successfully complete Summer Academy sections. The teacher will meet with students to monitor program components to ensure student progress, individualize instruction as needed, conduct assessments, evaluate student work per program guidelines, and manage student behavior.

2024 SUMMER ACADEMY SESSIONS: Currently, Summer Academy is being planned to include four days/week, mornings only, during the month of July 2024. Additional hours will be provided to support planning and preparation prior to the beginning of Summer Academy.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Classroom teaching experience required.
Holds a license from Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission.
Demonstrates command of oral and written English language.
Ability to effectively present information to students.
Experience with Teaching reading, writing and math curriculum.
Excellent student management and problem solving skills.
Ability to establish positive working relationships with students and colleagues.
Ability to provide appropriate accommodations and modifications to meet each student's academic, social and behavioral needs.
Ability to perform duties with awareness of all District requirements and School Board policies.
Teach an enrichment activity to entice/excite and expand student learning opportunities.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise students and oversee work of instructional assistant.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The competent teacher will:
Teach district approved curriculum.
Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the time designated.
Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students.
Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals.
Establish clear objectives for all class sessions and communicate these objectives to students.
Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
Strive to implement by instruction and action, the District's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
Evaluates student academic growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports..
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, District Policy and administrative regulations.
Assist the head teacher in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedures.
Plan and supervise assignments for teacher assistant(s).
Other duties as assigned by Student Services Director.

SALARY: In accordance with negotiated SHEA agreement.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT WHICH MAY INCLUDE:
In a four-hour day the employee may:
Stand/walk 2 - 4 hours
Talk/hear 1 - 4 hours
Sit 2 - 4 hours
The teacher may occasionally:
Bend/kneel/squat/reach
Use hands for repetitive motions
Lift, push, pull and hold items up to fifty pounds
The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
