The AAC Academic and Career Advising Assistant supports the mission of the AAC. The AAC Academic and Career Advising Assistant will assist/report directly to the AAC Academic and Career Advisor and the Assistant Dean of the Center for Teaching and Learning.
This position will also assist and work collaboratively with the AAC Academic Advisor and AAC Graduate Assistants. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: helping students with career decision planning, resume and interview development, job search strategies, and career interest assessments; assisting with administration of the CLEP exam; meeting with students (both walk-ins and appointments) for academic and career advising; communicating with students via phone and email; developing and disseminating promotional materials for the AAC; developing, implementing, and promoting programs throughout the year to promote the AAC and/or campus offices or programs; and assisting with Advisement & Registration activities.
Other responsibilities may include maintaining the AAC and/or Career Advising website and social media activities, designing promotional materials, presenting to classes and other campus groups, assisting with planning/implementation of career fairs, participating in campus committees, and assisting with programming and other activities in support of the Center for Teaching and Learning.
The AAC Academic and Career Assistant will maintain confidentiality at all times and in compliance with FERPA regulations. The AAC Academic and Career Assistant will maintain accurate and confidential student files or records when appropriate and will participate in assessment activities to monitor the effectiveness of the AAC and AAC programming.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree
Enrolled at least part-time at Shepherd University
Preferred Qualifications
A successful candidate will possess a customer-service focus and a high degree of professionalism. Candidates should be highly skilled in both verbal and written communication. Experience in counseling, career development, academic advising, public relations, programming, graphic design, and web design are preferred.
